He is Here #4 - In the Dark

People are easy to fool. We can fake our way through much of life and give off the appearance that we are someone we really are not. We can conceal things about ourselves and keep others from ever finding out the truth about us.
But God is very different. We can do nothing to hide from him. In Psalms 139:11-12, David said, “he even sees me in the dark! At night I'm immersed in the light! It's a fact: darkness isn't dark to you; night and day, darkness and light, they're all the same to you.” David realized that God was not bound by human limitations of sight and awareness. He was all knowing and all seeing.
Knowing God is always watching over us is comforting, however I doubt there is a person alive who wishes at times he did not have this power so our actions would have gone unnoticed. You know, when you have done something and tried very hard to keep it covered up. You fooled your friends, pastors and coworkers and thought that your secret sin would remain just that – a secret.
However, that is when we must remember that God saw the whole thing. He is there and witnessed everything you did. There are no secrets with him. And the ironic thing is that while we were able to conceal our actions to people around us, we were doing them before God, the only one who really matters, as though they were in broad daylight.
We need to understand just what an omnipresent, or always there, really means. It means God is watching everything we do. So even if we hide it from people, God still sees it and it still breaks his heart. So let’s please God with our actions and stop trying to live secret lives in private for he knows everything.
