Why Talk to the Devil?

I have a difficult time understanding the people who wake up in the morning and curse the devil or who tell the devil he is not going to hold them back this time. The idea of even talking to the devil is very disturbing to me.
I am not a very spooky person and do not think that talking to him will evoke thousands of evil spirits to attack you. No, I do not believe that will happen. My big issue with talking to the devil is that it is pretty pointless. What is it exactly that you are trying to accomplish? I never could understand this.
So instead of that useless exercise in futility, I decided to look at the life of Jesus to see what he did. I read how Jesus spent his time talking with God during times of solitude. I read how because Jesus was in his Father’s presence, he was so filled up with the glory of God that if he even approached a place where there were evil spirits, they would immediately flee. He did not even have to do anything. He just showed up and they could not be in the same presence of a man filled with the Spirit of God. Most of the time, all he had to say was “Go” and they would flee.
This tells me that a Christian today needs to be far more focused on talking to God and hearing his voice than talking to the devil. For when you get alone in the presence of God, no demon in hell can touch you. God is right there with you and will protect you from anything the enemy can throw at you.
That is why I committed years ago to not even waste my time addressing the devil. No, I would much rather spend that time in conversation with my Lord Jesus Christ, the one who saved my soul and conquered all powers of darkness. For when I am filled up with his Spirit, I know that all things are possible and nothing the enemy can do can hold me back.
