Heather Mills New Vegan Food Range Actually Happening?
Filed under: food & drink — michael @ 4:52 pm
Back in 2006, fresh from her breakup to Paul McCartney, Heather Mills told US TV show Extra that she was “developing a vegan fast food chain and vegan food markets.” Then, earlier this year, it was reported that Mills would be the host of a new vegan cooking show adding that she “couldn’t wait to share the details of her vegan lifestyle with viewers.”
As far as we know, neither of those plans came to fruition, but according to the UK Mail On Sunday, Mills is set to create her own vegan food range of meat and diary-free meals. Supposedly, she wants to team up with meat substitute firm Gardein to launch the range. After that, the source reveals, she wants to follow that up with a recipe book.
We’re going to go out on a limb and also say that her future plans probably include a vegan zoo, range of clothing made by only fair-trade vegans, and a vegan-only nightclub called “Soy Momma”.
But seriously, are any of these goals ever going to pan out?

Heather Mills And PETA Want Ben and Jerry’s To Use Breast Milk
Filed under: animals, campaigns, food & drink — parrish @ 10:07 am
Heather Mills is completely redefining: “my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard†by teaming up with PETA to urge Ben and Jerry’s to replace cows’ milk with human breast milk.
Tracy Reiman, PETA executive vice president, explains the campaign this way: “PETA’s request comes after reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting it for 75 per cent of the cows’ milk in the food that he serves. The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn’t make sense. So Ben and Jerry’s could do consumers and cows a big favour by making the switch to breast milk.”
I totally think Tracy’s on to something with the dairy thing, but I’d much rather down a huge glass of delicious rice milk than some random woman’s tepid boob milk. For real!
This isn’t the first time that Heather has outwardly supported other dairy alternatives, she recently was quoted saying: “Why don’t we drink rats’ milk, cats’ milk or dogs’ milk? The startling truth is that animals farmed for meat and dairy are now one of the greatest threats to the planet. The United Nations issued a shocking report on the environmental damage being done by livestock. I became a vegetarian for health reasons. Then I found out about the awful animal abuse in factory farms and dairy herds and became a vegan. The easiest and most effective way of cutting our contribution is to change our diet and go vegan.”
Heather’s right about one thing: vegans are super kickass! But what do you think about this human breast milk thing? Does it skeeze you out as much as it does me? Chime in and share your thoughts!

Paul McCartney’s Newest Girlfriend Nancy Shevell Goes Vegetarian
Filed under: food & drink, green and famous — parrish @ 11:50 am
PETA’s president, Ingrid Newkirk, has one rule about veggie dating: vegetarians must always date meat-eaters! Wait, what?! You would think that the founder of the nation’s leading animal rights organization would encourage inter-veggie lovin, but not so much. In fact, Ingrid believes that vegetarians have a duty to share the joys of the herbivorous diet by using the single best human tactic available: a little bit of snuggle action. Maybe it sounds a little out there, but it looks like it’s working for Paul McCartney!
Rumor has it that McCartney’s vegetarian lifestyle has worn off on his newest flame, Nancy Shevell. After only a few months of dating, Shevell has denounced all meat products and even ditched her famous crocodile skin purses.
A source close to Shevell says, “Nancy has… given up her beloved steaks, which shocked us. When they traveled around America this summer, they lived on avocado sandwiches and tomato soup. Now Nancy orders veggie food all the time.”
Paul is famous for his vegetarian influence and has been credited for converting ex-wife (and Ecorazzi bad girl) Heather Mills to the veg side. Of course he’s also the father of eco-designer Stella McCartney, and who could forget the lovely Linda McCartney who even has a vegetarian food line in her memory. Now if only he could get chef Gordon Ramsay to veg!

Heather Mills Would Love To Get Naked For PETA
Filed under: animals — michael @ 3:52 pm
Heather Mills wants to pose naked for charity. Again.
She’s done it before for her anti-landmine charity back in ‘99 and now a source close to her says the animal activist is willing to do it again. The Daily Express is reporting that 40-year-old former wife of singer Paul McCartney intends to join the likes of Pamela Anderson and Eva Mendes for PETA’s “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign.
“Heather prides herself in speaking up for those without a voice,†The Daily Express quoted a source close to her as saying. “She is a vociferous supporter of and has worked closely with countless animal charities including PETA and Viva! She is willing to do whatever it takes to get people to listen and stop abusing the rights of animals. She says she would love to pose for one of Peta’s campaigns,†the source added.
What do you think, crew? Nay or yay for Mills getting together with PETA and stripping down?

What Did We Learn Last Week? Newman, Armani, Leo, And More!
Filed under: animals, business, cars-houses, featured charity, green and famous, healthy living, movies, thegreenpicture, travel — michael @ 9:52 am

We said goodbye to Paul Newman, who passed away at the age of 83 on Saturday. (The above photo is of Newman and Mario Andretti in 2004.)
If forced to go on an all-liquid blood diet, a revealing 38% of you would choose to drain humans over forest critters or artificial sources. Of course, we suspect our wording of “Republican humans” probably had more to do with it.
The Leo Rumor Mill went into overdrive. Not only is DiCaprio potentially hooking up with Matthew Modine and Ed Begley Jr. on a green conference for Hollywood, but he may also follow up to his documentary The 11th Hour with a new eco-film. His rumored partner? None other business mogul T. Boone Pickens.
Britney Spears encouraged folks to buy a semi-nude painting of herself for charity, while Philip Seymour Hoffman decided that the best way to bike is while smoking.
The battle against Armani’s broken promise to PETA and decision to include fur in his fall collection heated up. The animal rights org added Gillian Anderson to the team and sent a letter to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes urging them not to dress Suri in Armani’s dead animal skins.
Stephen Spielberg joined Brad Pitt in donating $100K to fight Proposition 8; which seeks to ban gay marriage in California and overturn the earlier Supreme Court ruling.
87% of you agreed that there is no place for fur in sustainable fashion — or anywhere for that matter. The vote came in response to a Japanese designer who dubbed her fall collection of fur-trimmed capes and boleros as “Eco Harmonyâ€. Eek!
Robert De Niro’s popular sushi restaurant Nobu decided to give people the option of ordering endangered fish — rather than just remove it from the menu.
Heather Mills quieted critics (for now) by spending time cooking up a vegan BBQ for kids and donating $1 million in veggie food products to the children of Hunts Point in the South Bronx.

Heather Mills Donates $1 Million In Vegan Food To Children In New York City
Filed under: donations, events, events: nyc, food & drink — parrish @ 3:07 pm

One point for Team Heather!
Just weeks after I officially declared myself retired from the old team, the maiden of controversy is giving me good reason to suit up and play ball.
Heather Mills is donating $1 million in food products to the children of Hunts Point in the South Bronx. For all those non-New Yorkers out there, the South Bronx is one of the few areas left in NYC that’s in pretty bad shape. Nearly half of local families live below the poverty level and many struggle everyday just to survive.
To help lighten their load, Heather will donate the food tomorrow during a ceremony in Hunts Point Riverside Park with Congressman José Serrano. Besides footing the bill, Mills plans on pitching in at the grill and firing up some delicious meatless option. Oh yes folks — all the food she’s donating is TOTALLY VEGAN!!!!! For her actions, Serrano and the city of New York will present Mills with an honorary congressional award.
I know, I know…a lot of people out there don’t like this chick! But how can I not support her when she’s not only helping my city, but promoting a lifestyle I wholeheartedly believe in? Sorry guys, this point goes to Team Heather!

Heather Mills Considers Private Island Move To “Escape The Hate”
Filed under: travel — parrish @ 10:25 am

More Heather Mills drama, ya’ll! A few days ago I received a fair share of cyberspace pats on the back when I declared that my previous support for Heather Mills was drifting after a slew of reports regarding her less than honest charity donations. Was my post the last straw?
The word on the street is that Mills has begged Sir Richard Branson to let her move to his private Caribbean island for a whole year to “escape the hate.” Heather believes, and I agree, that she’s received a massive downpour of hate since her divorce from Sir Paul McCartney and thinks a move is neccesary.
A source revealed: “She wants to spend a year there to rest and rebuild her life. She has been in touch with Sir Richard and she is confident he will allow her to live there for a while. Heather believes she has been subjected to unprecedented levels of hate since her split with Paul. Heather sees Necker as the ideal place to get away.”
The island costs £25,000 a day to rent, has two private beaches, swimming pools, tennis courts, a personal chef and access to water sports. However, the £2.2 million it will cost Heather to inhabit the island for a year is nothing compared to the £24.3 million divorce settlement she received from Paul McCartney. Will Heather be disappearing from the public eye? We’ll let you know as soon as we do! Stay tuned to Ecorazzi for all the latest Heather Mills gossip!

Heather Mills Busted Over Broken Promises To Charity
Filed under: campaigns, not green — parrish @ 10:16 am
Might I possibly be resigning from Team Heather? Maybe! Here at Ecorazzi we are always looking for the positive things that people in the entertainment world do for green living, humanitarianism, animal rights and charity. In the past I’ve thrown my full support behind Heather Mills even when just about everybody told me not to. However, with recent news surfacing regarding a few of Heather’s broken promises I can’t help but consider rethinking my decision.
After being awarded a hefty £24.3 million divorce payment from Sir Paul McCartney the controversial Brit vowed to give “a large majority” of it to the Adopt-A-Minefield organization, but charity sources at Adopt-A-Minefield claim they haven’t received anything.
A source said: “They have waited in vain for their millions. She’s had plenty of time, but sadly it’s yet another untruth by the queen of lies.” Earlier in the year Heather was quoted saying, “Around 80 per cent of my money goes to charity.” But her former publicist is now calling her “pathological liar”, saying, “I was foolish and saw her simply as the devoted humanitarian, charity campaigner and protective mother she wanted the world to see. Now I want the public to know who the real Heather Mills is.”
Oh crap! Have I been backing the wrong team? I guess only time will tell. I don’t even really need to ask, but what do YOU think about this whole Heather Mills mess? Speak now or forever hold your peace.

London May Install Trash Bins Featuring Celebrity Voices
Oh, the possibilities...
Filed under: events: uk, green and famous — michael @ 2:59 pm

The next time you go to throw something out in London, don’t be surprised to hear Paris Hilton exclaim, “That’s hot.” The city is considering experimenting with trash bins featuring celebrity voices as a way to get more people to properly dispose of their garbage. Currently, Finland is utilizing the tech for their own public bins. According to one source, a detector in the bin will activate a loudspeaker every time rubbish is deposited and the celebrity voice recording will say: “It’s great that you care about the city. Cool isn’t it?â€
Um, yea. And creepy too.
A spokeswoman for the Mayor of London said that he is very interested in innovative schemes “that will encourage Londoners to recycle their rubbish.” The bins in Helsinki are just another example that they think might work really well in the capital.
Right — now the only question is: Who do you think should be featured as one of the voices of trash? Better yet, let’s have a vote!

Heather Mills Donates $50,000 To FARM At Animal Rights 2008 National Conference
Filed under: campaigns, donations, events, events: DC, food & drink, honors — parrish @ 10:17 am
Earlier this summer Ecorazzi got super hyped when we received our press pass for the Animal Rights 2008 National Conference, which took place this past weekend in Washington D.C. The plan was for me to attend the event, possibly chat with Heather Mills, and bring you back all the hottest green gossip from the festivities. However, a last minute emergency back home in Florida kept me from attending and so, while I can’t bring you anything exclusive, I do have some fresh off the stove AR2008/Heather Mills news. And we all know how much our readers LOVE Heather Mills news!
Last weekend the former model and controversial vegan was honored by the folks at FARM (Farm Animals Rights Movement) and in return made a huge $50,000 donation to the group. Mills also took the opportunity to talk about how being vegan is basically the most awesome thing ever and announced plans to launch her own brand of vegan food. Wait…don’t get too excited! If you’re a regular reader you might remember my rather disappointing Mills concoction at the Farm Sanctuary Gala earlier in the year. Hospital food say what? Even so, Mills plans to launch her own vegan range in October and open a chain of vegan restaurants in the near future.
FARM is a public-interest organization promoting vegan, plant-based diets to save animals, protect the environment, and improve health. They are one of my all time favorite groups and have been responsible for a bazillion successful grassroots campaigns. To find out why I have a crush on FARM, visit FARMUSA.org.
