After emailing with my editor at P&R this week, I’ve been able to confirm the title of my book on Katherine Parr coming out March 2009. The official title is now Katherine Parr : A Guided Tour of the Life and Thought of a Reformation Queen (more info). This is the same as my proposed title, which Mindy and I crafted to match the series. So while there is no real surprise here, it is still nice to have the title verified. I have the preliminary edits in front of me and hopefully will have them back by November 7 for layout. This is a project that is a long time in coming, but I’m glad to see….   finish reading at brandonwithrow.com.Â

This semester I’ve spent less time sleeping and more time working. There is a great satisfaction in having a one-year position; I have regular income and I know where I’ll be over the next year (mostly). There is a downside as well; I’m still looking for that permanent position. So over the next year I’m living the paradox of having full-time faculty responsibilities, while still needing to keep the applications for other fall 2009 positions going out.  The “already/not yet†of this life.
There simply isn’t enough time in the world.Â
I need to see…continue reading at Brandonwithrow.com

Mindy and I were emailed our galleys and a cover image of History Lives, volume 5, Rescue and Redeem this week. So while I’ve been chained to the classroom, teaching Winebrenner’s Christian Theology intensive this week, she’s been chained to the galleys.
She finished looking over them today and returned them to our publisher. The publication is still scheduled for 2009, however, this week we have the pleasure of unveiling the cover (click the image on the left for larger view). A description of the volume is up on the series website, for those who are interested. Also, if you are a fan of the series, you can find us on Facebook and join our fan club.
On a side note…. Continue reading at brandonwithrow.com…

Tomorrow, in a course I’m teaching on Hermeneutics, we will be discussing the book Chasing the Eastern Star: Adventures in Biblical Reader-Response Criticism by Mark Powell, the Robert and Phyllis Leatherman Professor of New Testament studies at Trinity Lutheran Seminary.  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the text, challenges and all. I’ll let you know if I ever want to see it again after reading two sections of papers on it! Having read and re-read this passage below several times from Powell’s book, I can’t stop thinking about it. I thought I’d share it here. Take from it what you will. (I’m well aware of the possible receptions for what he is saying here.) Continue reading and commenting at Brandon Withrow.com.
NOTE: As I will be eventually switching over to brandonwithrow.com for good, please update your feed readers and favorites.
