Print To PDF

January 18th, 2008 by The Editor

One of the most frustrating things that can happen is receiving a file from a friend or coworker that you can’t open. People commonly assume that everyone has MS Office and additionally..

forget that their version of word may not be compatible with the recipient(s).

Print To PDFMy favorite way to get around this problem is to “print to PDF.” While there are a number of options out there, they basically all work the same. When the software is installed your computer will see a new printer called PDF file, or PDF driver etc. Instead of saving the file in one of a number of possible formats that are listed under the “save as..” menu of your program, you select the “print..” option and then choose the new PDF printer that is listed. The neat thing about this solution is that it’s available to all the programs you’re running. I use PDF Redirect by EXP Systems, LLC. It’s available as freeware and as a registered pro version with additional features (comparison).
