Some time ago, Nokia revealed plans for a concept phone capable of being flexible enough to wrap around a wrist, bend and contort its shape at will and remain flat as a pancake at rest. It looked great, but all seemed a tad futuristic and there was no particular reason to believe that it would ever see the light of day.
Following work with the University of Cambridge, Nokia has recently announced that the ‘Morph’ phone could well be arriving sooner than you might think. It’s not often that the ever-evolving search giant Google loses out to a rival, but a recent announcement from T-Mobile saw them unveil plans to drop everyone’s favourite search engine as its preferred provider in favour of Yahoo. Following its rejection of an unsolicited buyout offer from Microsoft, it entered a strategic partnership with T-Mobile to offer its services to customers in 11 European countries.

Yahoo’s oneSearch delivers relevant results quickly and easily and offers instant answers to search queries, reducing the need for mobile users to swim through a sea of matching pages to find the relevant hit. Following our recent news of Motorola’s declining sales figures and poor performance in 2007, it seems the American electronics company may be looking to quit the mobile market altogether. Talks are in progress amongst shareholders to decide the next step, but it is likely that it will elect to separate mobile devices from the rest of its range, which includes radios, networking equipment and set top boxes.
