Church News "beta" Web site

   The Church News Web site is undergoing some design and content changes. Armed with reader suggestions, the Church News is almost ready to abandon its old look in favor of a new look. And, all of the Church News content will be available to all readers without registration requirements. The Web development team continues to make "fixes" and "updates" prior to a complete launch in coming weeks. Readers are encouraged to look around the "new" site and offer feedback. 'Real Families' and real answers

   A family-oriented reality television show developed by Brigham Young University and broadcast by KBYU-TV and BYU TV — what sounds like a contradiction is actually far from the combative, confrontational style of many so-called "reality shows" and the oft-portrayed dysfunctional family.
   Instead, "Real Families, Real Answers" shows families dealing with issues such as strengthening marriages, dealing with family finances, managing emotions and avoiding and overcoming pornography as well as interjecting scholarly commentary.
   "This is the real deal," said series director Blair Treu, adding, "We're celebrating the things that families are doing right, accepting the fact that they're not perfect and there are things they could do better."

Having wholesome fun

   Youth of the Church, with their love of wholesome fun, will be able to ring in the New Year with specially prepared music and fanfare consistent with the standards of the Church.
   For two consecutive nights, youth from across the Salt Lake Valley gathered in the Conference Center to tape, "A Brand New Year. A Celebration for Latter-day Saint Youth," to be released as a DVD to wards and branches in December.
   In the video, talented youth performers, radiant in countenance and modest in dress, lead their peers in high-energy music and thoughtful testimony.
