Democratic Convention versus Republican Convention
Here's one perspective on the differences between the Democratic National Convention and this week's Republican convention.

Astute comment for a twelve year old!
Did you know the largest group of non voters is unmarried women? 36% of the voterate are unmarried and 44% of the workforce.
Ever heard a politician mention a "single" person?

The Democrats were a heck of a lot more fun to watch and listen to, and they had better music.
The Republicans aren't "better organized". Those stove up old coots just can't move around very much. Think I saw some younger people, but they were dressed like nursing home attendants.

And I bet they appreciate the Democratic Party raising the minimum wage.
I can't believe that half full arena packed in so many evangelicals like Joe Lieberman.
They are ALL old white people and mostly males at that. It looks like the Republican Party convention is being held in an Assisted Living home.
Here's one that's real important:
The GOP mocks community organizers.

Roland Martin was reporting from the convention on CNNs recap. As he came onscreen, his eyes were visibly red. I thought it might have been the alcohol at those conventions. Little did I know what it was. Follow me below

When asked by Wolf Blitzer what he thought of the speech and how, it became obvious that the redness was from tears, not of joy but of anger.
Roland's response: This is a rough paraphrase--if anyone gets video please post it occured at 11:50 pm.
Wolf: what did you take from the speech and how can Obama/Biden
Roland: Let me just say all of this talk of Biden dancing aorund going after Palin in the debates, is over. I say go after her. Now how would or should Obama respond? Let me get to the point in Palin's speech that she mocked "community organizers". My 2 parents are sitting home in Houston, Texas and they are both community organizers and the GOP and Sarah Palin might have well have said "being community organizers doesnt matter" to my parents face. Im disgusted. Community organizers keep people in their homes, keep their lights on, keep food in the fridge. The GOP wants to talk about small town issues, well being a community organizer, addresses just that. So what did I hear from the speech--this is a quote from Roland, "The GOP doesnt give a flying flip about community organizers"
During his whole passioned rant, he was visibly angry and upset that he had watched someone belittle what his parents had done to raise him and help others there whole lives.
I have to agree. If the GOP want to talk about small town issues, thats fine. But dont get up and diss the very people who are "in the trenches", actually organizing. And especially dont do it, when youre campaign is touting you as someone who understands small town America. And really dont do it after your campaign has had you sequestered for a week, claim sexism at any legit question youre asked, and write 75 percent of your speech.
This isnt Alaska anymore. Youre up against a CHICAGO politician. Its a little different in the lower 48
Updated: The video just came through my interweb tube

So the GOP doesn't believe in government and they don't believe in charity either! Where does that leave them?
Has anyone else noticed that the Republican convention is nothing but mudslinging, ideological speaking, and religious sermons? I mean, what happened to the issues? All we hear about at the Republican convention is generalizations of what will happen if Obama or McCain is elected, not specifics. Then the hit us with a few low blow attacks, and follow it up with a few reasons why God blesses America and the Republicans.
Was this Country not founded on the principles of religious freedom? Don't get me wrong, people should be allowed to practice whatever religion they want, and make brief mention of their faith in speeches, without regret. But should it really be a prerequisite for acceptance into one of our nation's major political parties to be an ultra conservative religious zealot? To me these Christian Extremeists are not far removed from the Islamist Jihadist Terrorists they are building up as the world's biggest enemy and fighting in the modern day Crusade in Iraq.
I heard a stark difference in listening to Barack Obama talk to ‘all of America’ saying that he would give a $1,000 tax credit to American families with an income under $250,000 and listening to Sarah Palin talk to ‘just her constituents’. I guess, Palin assumes ‘all’ the Republican Party’s constituents make over $250,000 as Palin spoke in a generalization, that Barack Obama will raise their taxes, as though she thinks it doesn’t matter if she acknowledges her own constituents who make under $250,000?
Palin thinks she can win this race with her constituents by simply saying that the Democratic Party will raise their taxes like McCain thinks he can win this race by simply saying he is nominating a woman for Vice President.
I think there has been a long term Republican GOP tax strategy for years, which they have viewed as a no lose strategy rewarding either privatization or ideas of political sabotage that thanks to George Bush’s mishandling, has now starkly changed.
I think part of the Republican tax strategy was to cut huge amounts of taxes, and offset it by cutting needed government program funding in the government’s budget, like cutting some health program funding for our Armed Forces recently revealed by the media. This would force our military personnel to privately pay for more and more for their own health care (even without pay increase) fulfilling Republican’s leadership’s long term agenda towards privatization.
The Republican GOP also knew that if the Democratic Party might have taken over, the Democrats might have been forced to roll back their tax cuts (sometimes perceived as raising some taxes) to recapture drastically dropped government revenue for funding necessary government programs like the military’s health care programs.
So exploiting cuts in government funding with being drastic, as well as cutting taxes, was part of the strategy that had sometimes worked for the Republican GOP unbeknownst to their constituents. Where then they could have used the Democratic Party maybe needing roll back their tax cuts for needed established government programs as a political weapon in future elections. Even though the Republican GOP are the ones sometimes instigating renewing their ‘yesterday’s' cut taxes in forcing ‘tomorrows’ tax roll backs.
Now, after the Bush Administration rushed to give billions of dollars in tax cuts to America’s wealthiest and corporations, my guess is that the Bush Administration probably was not being careful enough to ‘slowly’ cut taxes to build on the GOP’s long term structured tax agenda! So now the Democratic Party can capitalize financially and politically on the mere tax roll back of this irresponsibly lost government revenue along with ‘not’ renewing the thousands of government contracts that Republican leadership have exploited.
Recapturing this revenue allows for Barack Obama to CUT SOME TAXES, AT THAT! As well as providing the financial foundation base for the funding of the Barack Obama's ‘insurance’ program that every American has ‘health insurance’, which is more like ‘assurance of health care insurance’, isn’t it?
Sarah Palin and other speakers at the Republican Convention commented on Obama's lack of experience for running the country because he never ran a large company, City as Mayor or State as a Governor. He has never been a CEO. Couldn't you plug McCain's Name in place of Obama and have the same result? What State was he Governor of or City Mayor of or Company CEO of? Are they to commenting on McCain as well!
Where did Sarah Palin go for her Higher learning? What kind of degrees does she have?
Why doesn't anyone care about where the Alaskan Oil is being sold to? The US is not getting it, China is! I guess the profits are higher there. But then how are addition leases going to help, that oil will also be sold to foreign interests as well for profit. I guess they need the leases so other countries can have more oil. The US loses again.
Barak Obama was a gentleman when he commented on Sarah Palin's daughters pregnancy. Keeping the children out of politics was a honest and humane statement. Who started all the slander in this campaign--John McCain. I feel that we should return the slander by questioning John McCain's capability of becoming the commander in chief after being in a war camp and his ability to be in charge of the United States of America. We all know that prisoners of war have had relapses and are not capable of doing their every day tasks. Is this what we want for our President of the United States?
My 20-year-old son walked in, watched the RNC for a bit, and said to us,"Is this a nursing home reunion or something?" That party does not reflect the globalization of economies, much less the rights of the middle class or women!

That party does not reflect the globalization of economies, much less the rights of the middle class or women! Gen Y seems to see it for what it is, so why is the rest of America so stupid to fall for this war and oil stuff over and over?
My 20-year-old son walked in, watched the RNC for a few minutes, and asked if it was a nursing home convention or something! Talk about tired and dated everything, from the people to their mantras to their continuing extreme direction....someone needs to bring out the big cane and drag them off the stage!
