Exxon John Campaigns at ExxonMcCain '08 HQ?

Posted by Matt Ortega on August 19, 2008 at 11:22 AM

This is priceless.

John McCain is campaigning aboard an oil rig, Genesis, jointly owned by Exxon Mobil and Chevron in the Gulf of Mexico. It is laughable that McCain would campaign on the Genesis to push his phony "drill here, drill now" nonsense because it took Genesis ten years to produce any oil at all.

Not exactly the imagery the McCain campaign wants to create.

Throw this one on the heap of McCain gimmicks -- like the gas tax holiday -- that will not provide any real relief for Americans.

John McCain will say and do anything to win this election, including selling out to Big Oil on gimmicks that won't provide any real relief to Americans, but boost their profit margins.

What the perfect photo opp to convince voters that McCain is going to be a Third Bush term. I hope he was wearing his white cowboy hat and humming Bomb, Bomb Iran in harmony with Dick Cheney at his side.

Why can't he ever do anything smart? He couldn't wait until Hurricane Fay left the vicinity?

Could I get some of your Exxon John bumper stickers? This shows how John McCain has the ability to see beyond the problem to the solution. All you Dems can do is tax and wring your hands. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid couldn't find a quart of oil in a Walmart, if they could find a Walmart. Obamaa demonstrated that he is an empty suit this weekend. Of course, he's for change, he's never done anything! By the way I'm a exxon stockholder, shares purchased with overtime earnings. Working as a contractor for exxon over 15 years i have nothing but admiration and respect for the people of exxon. A lot more respect than I have for Obama or Biden

you have to hand it to bush/cheney....they very successfully joined the u.s. energy policy to the oil companies. with $4 gas and obscene profits, you would not see me campaign anywhere near an oil rig.

Guys, be careful with this. Genenis took only three years from technology proof to production. We should concentrate on the environmental concerns not the time to production!

Careful with this one! If you read the project report it took only 3 years to get this well into production -- the rest was caused by lack of technology. Let's concentrate on environmenta concerns not time to production.

Actually, as an economist...

Current prices are based on replacement costs. If demand knows future supplies will be increasing, current prices go down. The logic stretch comes from the time differential (5-10 years).

Does it really matter? I think it does!!! But you need more

There are better ways to hit McCain's history and judgments. I always go back to McCain's many homes and he did not pay his taxes on one for 1,2,3,4 years!!! If it is too much for him to may his taxes -- either his memory failed him or he just did not do it.
