In either case...Wow. (to whichever one of you this applies) My little kitty says, [image] "Waow!" too.

(is it OK if I stand in for trumad here, my dear?)

Though I'm sure his little "fictional" tome, "If I Did It..." must have given you (or Tru) a bit of pause, eh?

As a biologist specializing in RNA (DNA's cousin, so to speak) I can say pretty safely that OJ's "DNA Defense" was the biggest bunch of horsecrap I ever heard.

"If I Did It..." and got off, I wouldn't have been dumb enough and arrogant enough to write down how I actually DID do it and then try to pass it off as fiction.

That, more than anything else, may have goaded the prosecutors and everyone else to really slam him in this trial even harder than he otherwise would have been slammed. As mad as most people are at OJ getting away with murder, that hole "If I Did It" shit restored the anger to as fresh as it was the day he walked.

If the sentiment about OJ was dying down, and I don't think it will ever die down completely, it was such a travesty of justice, proving only that nowadays, a rich BLACK man could now also get away with some of the shit rich WHITE men had been getting away with for a long time.

Progress. Hooray.

Tru always maintained that he was guilty.

To be honest, I tried VERY hard to ignore as much ofthe OJ Trial as I could. Even then, I knew something was wrong and I knew the grotesque "coverage" of the OJ Trial meant something more, was more significant, than a simple celebrity trial, as afr as themedia coverage was concerned.

Now, of course, with the decay of the US M$M painfully advanced and evident, I can see what I was looking at all those years ago with 20/20 hindsight.

I was looking at a Cable TV Media already in an advanced state of decay as a result of corproate consolidation and the result of end of the idea that news divisions were a public service, and thus must be made as profitable as any other part of Cable TV.

We forget that the FCC, with Hitler and Stalin and THEIR medias in mind, wrote the original regulations, among other reasons, to drive forth the opposite point...the American, not the Bushie point of view. But really as little point of view as possible.

Now, of course, the Bushie Party-Loyal Sub-Media is, in fact, patterned after Hitler's Media and have been used as a cudgel to perform Gleichschaltung (the nazi word meaning Bringing Into Line) on the media the Bushies do not directly controlor control through their corproate friends.

both before and after the OJ Trial.

The Psyops boys did learn some very key group psychology points as proven with "in the field" data rather than theoretical supposition.

Some of the very same methodologies that were used to force-feed the vast majority of Americans who did not want to see 24/7 OJ on their Infoganda Channels, have been exploited as mental weaknesses by the Bushies using the principles learned during the OJ Trial to control people and force them to accept that which they didn't want.

OJ told the Bushies something about us. That we Americans were lazy and weak-minded (I am not referring to whether one believes innocence or guilt, but the slack-jawed eyes-glazed take-what-they-give-you-and-be-grateful mentality of the Cable TV Pundit-watching Zombie) beyond a tyrant's wildest dreams, and READY to be enslaved with a smile on our faces (just keep those TVs running 24/7 and we own't mind whatever agonies the Bushies have in store for us).

Somehow I think it is no coincdience that the Year of OJ saw not just the evil of the Gingrich Bunch triumphant, but the beginning building of the substantial parts of the Bush Lie Machine.

How many white Democrats cast their votes for Repugs in '94 as an angry protest against OJ? We'll never know for sure, but I am guessing plenty, given that even NOW in our national extemity, people can barely focus on the issues and not be suckered in by Bushiganda and nonsense distractions.

But in '94, when even those of us who had a clue were sill mostly clueless to the danger building in front of our eyes, such things were disturbing, but unfathomable and almost unthinkable given the Old American (1776-2000) thinking, now revealed to be arrogant, self-centered foolishness, that it could NEVER happen here.

To circle back to my intial point, I am not sure the M$M was made any different by the OJ Trial. I think the media was already debased and corporatized. I think Oj was a story the Corporate M$M was waiting for in order to test their new corporate "we can only cover one story at a time for all 24/7, but nothing more" methods of even further dumbing down the subject populace.

This may or may not have been conspiratorily malicious (probably not, though) but the why no longer matters. The only thing that matters is that we have a Cable TV Media that is a disgrace to the nation and a credit to Third-World Tyrants everywhere.

I'll bet the "President" of Uzbekistan and every other tyrant ruling a beaten people, is filled with the most terrible envy at the sophisticated, pwoerful and huge Bushie Might Wurlitzer, which does what every tyrant dreams of...warps and bends reality in such a way that a tyrant's victims will queue up to be robbed with a smile and even the ones who KNOW will scream in silence, unheard by those even next to them, and then queue up with the rest.

15. Very interesting post. I've never really thought about all of what you're saying...
but it kind of made a lightbulb go on in my head. I have never watched the news, and have always been skeptical of the mainstream media bread and circus machine. But it's interesting to look back and ponder the fact that I was coming of age around the time of OJmania and how that may have contributed to my view of the media.

Not being interested in sports, I didn't have a clue who OJ was and was never interested in the whole OJ thing in the slightest. I was 17 when he did the deed and a sophomore in college when the verdict came down and I never understood all of the people around me who ate that shit up. The whole thing just bored me silly.

I think that, combined with the Lewinsky crap really set the mood of that time, and being of an impressionable age, it just permanently turned me off of the idea of television news. I wonder if that atmosphere is what spawned the generation of people who get their news from the Daily Show.
