I do not know how you all feel, however, with all this 'kill him stuff', am
scared, Tried to contribute to Obama's campaign but Canadians cannot contribute. Please assure us that Senator Obama will be safe.
The world wants him to be the next President of the USA and am sure you too want that. Please assure me that the secret service can protect him as far as they can!
Best regards,
Your Canadian friend

1. What I do know is these fear-mongering type threads are not productive to getting Obama elected.
And they seemingly spew forth this eve like explosive diarrhea.
We are doing the right wing's job for them when we perpetuate the speculations and FEAR-MONGERING.

2. Please believe me, am not fear mongering. I just want Senator
Obama to be safe. And trust me, the world is looking for him to get elected, even us Canadians!

11. No, am not fear mongering. Always liked your posts but wanted
to speak out. With Palin getting her crowd all worked up, who knows which idiot might take her seriously?
Am really sorry if I have offended you but I know how difficult it is for a minority to be on center stage!

14. With respect, yes, that's exactly what you are doing - inadvertently helping the right wing.
Really, if you know of a threat, report it to the SS. There are nuts everywhere. Even the mindless celebrities must hire body guards.
I know you mean well but this is not helpful to anyone ... it only stirs up more fear.

16. Am sorry, I was very concerned, however, let's hope for the best
and we will get President Obama. I too want him as a President as we are dealing with this loser Harper!
It was not my intention to offend anyone on here. I have been rooting for Senator Obama all the time and I would welcome any Americans who want to come to BC!

20. You're not offending anyone. However, without intention, you are encouraging people to hold
onto their fears. Yes, it's dangerous for Obama but it's not helping him to continue to obsess on that fact because it FEEDS INTO the right wing's desire to frighten the populace into a sense of "learned helplessness." It's just my 2 cents but I don't think we're helping either each other or Obama's campaign by focusing on "the fears."
Best wishes - I'm sorry if I came off as too harsh.

18. There's no doubt about that.
However, it's a reasonable fear. I don't begrudge her that. I'm surprised you little slide and call this helping the right wing. It's far from it.
This is ginuine and no doubt there are nuts everywhere but this is one of the first on tapes post the instigation from another candidate. This is unforgiviable and says a lot about how far the McCAin-Palin stupidity will go and it's reasonable once again, for people to be a bit panicky. Not everyone responds the same.
I think you're being unnatural insensitive to the OPs concern.

28. personally I want it brought up
I want the media to see that people are upset at the vileness of these speeches and the danger in them. If we let the bar be lowered this low what next? I want the Dem party and Move on and everybody else out there raising hell about this. It scares me to see this kind of crap being spewed. Shame them into ceasing this line of attack is what I want.

15. Oh what ever!! It's not fear mongering when the shit is all over the place.
She has a right to be frightened and want to talk to us about it. I think a good few of us our scared by the extent of the Republican tactics. This is not just for fun or hilarity any longer. This is extremely serious situation where other candidates are inciting mobs of people to violence.
The government is not talking to us about the economic crisis and now we're being faced with threats to our candidate and make no mistake that was to our candidate. They can spin it to oblivion they knew what they were doing and they went to damn far.

21. It's not horror scenarios.
She has a genuine fear and she's coming from Canada. I say give him/her a break.
My anger and several other posters anger over this was all over this board earlier today and it's still going on tonight. So our anger would be helping the right wingers? Our anger is coming from a level of concern for our candidate, you realize.
People actually shouldn't be put on the defensive when this has been made very real and this reality is hitting people hard. There's one thing to talk about it, and hear about it by word of mouth and this looming threat and when someone starts a thread on it to be like "your concern is noted."
However, this somethign entirely different. It's on screen and shows how extreme the other side is and to waht extent these republicans will go...with a bit of instigation of hate by their leader. It riles my nerves and makes me so angry because this is reminiscint of the lynching stories I've read about.
