RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The wife of Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel plans to endorse Democrat Barack Obama. Lilibet Hagel has scheduled a 10 a.m. news conference in Alexandria, Va., on Tuesday with Susan Eisenhower, the daughter of Republican President Eisenhower. Hagel, R-Neb., has made no endorsement. Lilibet Hagel said in an Associated Press interview that her decision was independent of her husband. She said she didn't know whether he would make an endorsement or whom he would support. "You'd have to ask him," Lilibet Hagel said. She said it will be her first endorsement of a Democrat and that perilous world conditions were a factor.

17 minutes ago · SAO PAULO, Brazil - Maybe they should have tried "John McCain." At least eight "Barack Obamas" who borrowed the Democratic presidential candidate's name to run in Brazil's local elections lost. The defeat of the so-called Obamas came in municipal elections on Sunday that selected mayors and council members in more than 5,000 Brazilian cities. The elections saw the ruling Workers Party and allies of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva make gains across the country.

The benchmark stock index slid to its lowest in more than five years and the baht dropped to a three-week low after police this morning dispersed protesters who had blocked Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat from presenting his new administration's polici

2 hours ago · DEARBORN, Mich. | Ford Motor Co. calls its new safety technology for teenage drivers “MyKey.” It probably should be called “MyParentsKey” because the feature that Ford announced Monday will let parents slow down their kids in the family car. MyKey allows parents to limit teen drivers to a top speed of 80 mph, cap the volume on the car stereo, demand seat-belt use and encourage other safe-driving habits. MyKey will be standard equipment on the 2010 Ford Focus and eventually on all Ford,

It was from Georgia, and had a stain on it. The Butler County Hazardous Material team was called to examine the package. Boehner's office was evacuated, as were the two office condos on either side of the condo. Congressman Boehner is also the House Minority Leader. ---------------------------------

The freeze has brought out the ghostly green haze of the aurora borealis - the Northern Lights - the shape of which shifts dramatically across the tiny city's black skies. Oct 06 · It appears that the Democratic lawyers will "prowl", and the Republican lawyers will keep the Democratic lawyers in line. The GOP controls every aspect of Florida's voting, and the Florida state Democratic leaders usually stay in line and don't make waves. Yet they feel the need to use the word "prowl" in connection with lawyers who are concerned about the No Match No Vote law. Don'tcha love it? From the segment titled "Lawyers to prowl polls." Oct 06 · And it just arrived in my email. Here it is folks: McCain and the Keating 5 Over the weekend, John McCain's top adviser announced their plan to stop engaging in a debate over the economy and "turn the page" to more direct, personal attacks on Barack Obama. In the middle of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, they want to change the subject from the central question of this election. Perhaps because the policies McCain supported these past eight years and wants to

I know there is a lot of campaigning here by both sides, but I have some doubts about the inland more rural portions of the corridor being ready for change from their staunch Republican background. Oct 06 · Like most Americans of my age, I grew up surrounded by religion – even though my parents were not religious. Religion has always fascinated me, and I used to read a lot about it, though I’m not sure exactly what I learned from all that reading. I believe, though I am not certain, that various religions have produced a lot of good in the world. Many of Jesus’ teachings form the core of the same kind of beliefs that permeate the Democratic Underground and other liberal/progressive organizat
Oct 06 · Tonight, Monday, October 6, 2008, a group of citizens in Charlottesville, Va., organized by the Charlottesville Center for Peace and Justice, will attend the City Council's meeting to urge the Council to take up at its November meeting a resolution opposing a U.S. attack on the nation of Iran. Oct 06 · While the McCain-Palin campaign has officially begun their 30-day, swift-boating plan for Barack Obama by saying he likes to "pal around with terrorists," I'm somewhat sure they'll stop just short of Photoshopping Obama attending an al Qaeda planning meeting and focus much more intensely on defining the Democratic nominee as -- horror of horrors! -- a liberal. "We are looking for a very aggressive last 30 days," said Greg Strimple, a McCain talking head, over the weekend. "We are looking
