Bush Legacy National Bus Tour (5+ / 0-)

http://www.mysilverstate.com/...

http://www.bushlegacytour.com/...

EXCERPT

July 25, 2008

The Bush Legacy Tour bus will make a stop in Reno today:

In what supporters of the President have dubbed his "legacy year," Americans United for Change, the progressive issue-advocacy group best known for leading the successful fight to beat back President Bush's effort to privatize Social Security in 2005, has hit the road with its latest effort, the Bush Legacy Bus: a 45-foot long, 28-ton, clean bio-diesel powered museum on wheels featuring several interactive exhibits on how two terms of failed conservative policies supported by Bush and his allies - including Reps. Dean Heller and Jon Porter - have weakened America's security abroad while neglecting and undermining important priorities here at home.   Presumptive Republican nominee Sen. John McCain plans to offer more of the same if elected to the White House - continuing a misdirected war in Iraq while ignoring the concerns of working families struggling to stay afloat.
The latest stop on the national Bush Legacy Tour will be in Reno in front of the Washoe Democratic Party Headquarters, 1465 Terminal Way from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM PDT on Friday, July 25th, 2008 where the people of Nevada will be given an opportunity to reflect on how 8 years of failed Bush/conservative policies have left an economy in shambles, millions more without health insurance, an endless and mismanaged war in Iraq that has stretched our military to the breaking point, and thousands each day losing their jobs, their homes, and their dignity - and learn how John McCain plans to continue these disastrous policies.  The bus will be available to the media and open to the public from 11AM - 1PM, PDT.

200,000 people went out to see Barack Obama.  I doubt WWR had 200,000 viewers at the start of the program and after Krautslimer spoke, I doubt if they had 20.  What an embarrassment that guy is to PBS.

And to top it off, he looks like he was dragged out of Madame Tussaud's on a hot day.

The right is falling into total desperation over Barack's tour de force in Europe.  We now have someone who not only looks Presidential, speaks Presidential and is not an abysmal embarrassment to this country.

 FT: McCain rerunning Clinton's failed campaign (2+ / 0-)

Recommended by:
SarahLee, ballerina X

Just came across this analysis piece from what looks like tomorrow's Financial Times:

John McCain, it seems, has decided to re-run Hillary Clinton's ultimately failed campaign against Barack Obama. John Heilemann, the New York magazine writer, spotted signs that the rightwing former prisoner of war was modelling himself on the left-of-centre ex-first lady a fortnight ago: both were served by feuding and leaking staffers, both were tempted into populist gambits such as supporting a summer petrol tax holiday and both were betting their record of experience could trump Mr Obama's promise of change.

But the parallels became overwhelming this week when Mr Obama's triumphant tour of the Middle East and Europe goaded the McCain team into blaming it all on the favourite culprit of the waning days of Mrs Clinton's campaign: the media and its alleged love affair with Mr Obama. The Clinton camp's accusations got a boost from a Saturday Night Live sketch satirising the supposedly solicitous treatment Mr Obama received from television debate moderators; Mr McCain's operation went one better, creating its own satirical video of Obamaphile pundits, called Obama-love, and posting it on YouTube.

He seemed extremely relaxed, outspoken and confident in reaffirming and defending his slogan of halving poverty in 10 yrs. + We-Are-All-In-This-Together, in this country and beyond it.
DB queried him on his current relationship with the campaign and he said he had spoken, on his withdrawal, with both Hillary and Barack and both had agreed that this would be part of the package, including the creation of a poverty-fighting post "at least at the Cabinet level", with REAL clout. And that he is confident this is going to happen.
I hadn't seen much of Edwards in recent weeks, but he struck me as, well, over-a-hump, very-very easy, all of a sudden.
I didn't catch when the interview was recorded, but it seemed very new.

 Obama administration foreign policy (0+ / 0-)

If you believe that the foreign policy of the Obama administration will differ significantly from that of Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Ronald Regan, Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, or Richard Nixon, you should read "The Mandarins" in the August issue of Harpers.  The contents of that article, plus the recent comments by Cass Sunstein that there would be prosecutions of Bush administration officials only for "egregious" crimes leads me to believe that Obama will be Clinton with enough Democrats to pass some kind of semi-universal health plan based on satisfying the insurance industry.  Our policy towards China, Cuba, Israel, the West Bank, Egypt, Pakistan, Russia, the African kleptocracies, Burma, Indonesia, and most other countries will remain indistinguishable from even the George W. Bush administration.  In Korea and in Israel/Palestine we will revert to the Clinton policies.  Only in Iran do I expect that there will likely be a major change.  I believe that, as a part of the general settlement of the problems in Iraq, the US will sign a mutual non-agression treaty with Iran under which they will agree to stop development of nuclear weapons.  A similar treaty with North Korea will induce them to actually surrender most, if not all, of their current nuclear weapon stockpile.
