Stanford University Professor Steven Schneider, wrote: "On the one hand, as scientists, we are ethically bound to the scientific method, in effect promising to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but--which means that we must include all the doubts, the caveats, the ifs, ands, and buts. On the other hand, we are not just scientists but human beings as well. And like most people, we'd like to see the world a better place, which in this context translates into our working to reduce the risk of potentially disastrous climatic change.
To do that, we need to get some broad based support, to capture the public's imagination. That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts we might have... Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest." [emphasis added] (See endnote #38 in "Saving the Earth")
Edward Hunter, author of Brainwashing, an expose of the Soviet strategies for mind control: “The methods used to make ‘learning’ and confession palatable and workable are borrowed freely from … evangelism, psychiatry and science. The language and ideals of each other these fields were taken over and given new meanings and new interpretations in accordance with communist need. Brainwashing is a combination of fake evangelism and quack psychiatry in a setting of false science.” (1960), page 185.
Dr. Frederick Seitz, past President of the National Academy of Sciences, former Chairman of the Defense Science Board, and recipient of the National Medal of Science shares those concerns. He writes,
"That natural factors may be involved in the variations in the ozone layer is clearly understood by most atmospheric scientists. Unfortunately, this fact was omitted, presumably intentionally, from the summary which accompanied the master report issued by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.... It was prepared by a special group of participants who apparently had a personal interest in recommending tighter environmental controls.... Moreover, the speed with which the Montreal Protocols are being put into effect is entirely unjustified in view of the enormous price society will pay in cost, convenience, and health....
"To summarize, there is reason, based on sound scientific work, to express doubt that we are in immediate danger from either global warming or depletion of the ozone layer as envisaged by some extreme activists in the environmental movement."[31] Footnote is found in Saving the Earth

British put warning label on Gore film: "The British high court ruled Gore's Academy Award winning global warming film cannot be shown in any public school in England without an explicit disclaimer. The high court ruled that students must be warned that the film is partisan, political advocacy, not a factual representation of what is actually happening with the climate of the world. The disclaimer must stipulate that misleading exaggerations permeate the film....
"When Al Gore ... refused to debate any of the climate change experts... saying it was pointless to engage in their circus because '...the debate is truly over,' what Gore meant was that the world's most powerful barons of industry and banking plan to use the myth of global warming as the primary catalyst to force the nations of the world to agree to world government, not that factual evidence proves that manmade global warming is a fact." Global warming' shocker – Who's minding thermometers? "Dire 'global warming' predictions are based on bad science from the very start, says a veteran meteorologist.... What he found were temperature stations with sensors on the roofs of buildings, near air-conditioning exhaust vents, in parking lots near hot automobiles, barbecues, chimneys and on pavement and concrete surfaces – all of which would lead to higher temperature recordings than properly established conditions.... To qualify as a properly maintained temperature station, sensors must be placed in elevated, slatted boxes on flat ground surrounded by a clear surface on a slope of less than 19 degrees with surrounding grass and vegetations ground cover of less than 10 centimeters high." Global Warming Delusions: "...contrary to the latest news, the evidence that global warming will have serious effects on life is thin. Most evidence suggests the contrary.... I'm a scientist [professor emeritus... at the University of California] who believes in the scientific method and in what facts tell us. I have worked for 40 years to try to improve our environment and improve human life as well. I believe we can do this only from a basis in reality, and that is not what I see happening now. Instead, like fashions that took hold in the past and are eloquently analyzed in the classic 19th century book 'Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds,' the popular imagination today appears to have been captured by beliefs that have little scientific basis....
"Some colleagues who share some of my doubts argue that the only way to get our society to change is to frighten people with the possibility of a catastrophe, and that therefore it is all right and even necessary for scientists to exaggerate. They tell me that my belief in open and honest assessment is naïve. 'Wolves deceive their prey, don't they?' one said to me recently. Therefore, biologically, he said, we are justified in exaggerating to get society to change.' ...
"Ladurie pointed out that 'it is reasonable to think of the Vikings as unconsciously taking advantage of this [referring to the warming of the Middle Ages] to colonize the most northern and inclement of their conquests, Iceland and Greenland.' Good thing that Erik the Red didn't have Al Gore or his climatologists as his advisers." See Green Lies
Al Gore says he will donate his Nobel Prize money to Palo Alto nonprofit: "The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the yearly prize early this morning to both Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 'for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change.'... The two parties will split the $1.5 million prize money....'This is a chance to elevate the global consciousness about the challenge we face,' he said.... Stanford University Biology Professor Stephen Schneider [see his quote below] one of the lead authors of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's upcoming report, said the award underscores the achievements of science." repeat Earth-centered spirituality. Al Gore’s Vision of Global Salvation: Al Gore wrote, "The richness and diversity of our religious tradition throughout history is a spiritual resource long ignored by people of faith, who are often afraid to open their minds to teachings first offered outside their own system of belief. But the emergence of a civilization in which knowledge moves freely and almost instantaneously throughout the world has. . . spurred a renewed investigation of the wisdom distilled by all faiths. This panreligious perspective may prove especially important where our global civilization's responsibility for the earth is concerned."
CO2: The Greatest Scientific Scandal of Our Time: "Statement of Prof. Zbigniew Jaworowski, Chairman, Scientific Council of Central Laboratory for Radiological Protection Warsaw, Poland.... 'For the past 40 years I was involved in glacier studies, using snow and ice as a matrix for reconstruction of history of man-made pollution of the global atmosphere. A part of these studies was related to the climatic issues. Ice core records of CO2 have been widely used as a proof that, due to man’s activity the current atmospheric level of CO2 is about 25% higher than in the pre-industrial period. These records became the basic input parameters in the models of the global carbon cycle and a cornerstone of the man-made climatic warming hypothesis. These records do not represent the atmospheric reality....
"The basis of most of the [UN] IPCC conclusions... on projections of climatic change is the assumption of low level of CO2 in the pre-industrial atmosphere. This assumption, based on glaciological studies, is false.... I hope that their rational views might save the world from enormous damage that could be induced by implementing recommendations based on distorted science." See Green Lies and Amazing Truths

'Artic Tale': Global warming goes family friendly: "Some early reviews have questioned the value of assembling footage of various animals to construct artificial life stories complete with human-like villains and heroes.... Leipzig defended the approach, saying the goal was to create a new genre of 'wildlife adventure' movies. 'It isn't fictionalized in the way that 'Transformers' is fictionalized,' he said.... The film tells of the entwined lives and travails of two composite characters, Nanu, a young bear, and Seela, a walrus. Their stories are related, fable-style, by Queen Latifah.'" Make Up Your Own Mine: "Mine Your Own Business' is a documentary by Irish filmmakers Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney. They conclude that the biggest threat to the people of Rosia Montana [a Romanian mining town] 'comes from upper-class Western environmentalism that seeks to keep them poor and unable to clean up the horrific pollution caused by [former Communist dictator] Ceausescu's mining.'...
"Mr. McAleer... 'found that everything the environmentalists were saying about the project was misleading, exaggerated or quite simply false.'... [For example] Mr. Soros cites a recent poll... that 'found 90% of respondents rejecting the project.' But the poll turns out to be an unscientific Internet survey, and one of the environmental groups Mr. Soros funds urged people outside Romania to participate....
"'...the opposition do not take account of modern mining techniques and in fact the [new] Rosia Montana project will help to clear up existing pollution.'... And there's the rub. Rosia Montana needs a cleanup and development. Three-quarters of its 600 families lack indoor toilets, unemployment tops 70% and the only truly viable crop is potatoes.... 'People have no food to eat....I need a job.'...
"Mine Your Own Business' also contains interviews with leading environmentalists opposing other mining projects who display smug indifference to bettering the lives of poor people. In Madagascar, Mr. McAleer finds Mark Fenn, country director for the World Wide Fund for Nature, who argues that the poor are just as happy as the rich because they smile more and that if Madagascar locals (who now earn $100 a month) get more money 'they'll buy cases of beer... in three, four days the money's gone.' He then shows off his new $35,000 catamaran [sail boat]." See World Heritage Protection

Global Hot Air (Thomas Sowell): "The political left's favorite argument is that there is no argument. Their current crusade is to turn 'global warming' into one of those things that supposedly no honest and decent person can disagree about, as they have already done with 'diversity' and 'open space.' The name of 'science' is invoked.... After all, Karl Marx's ideology was called 'scientific socialism'....
"There is no question that there is a 'greenhouse' effect. Otherwise, half the planet would freeze every night when there is no sunlight falling on it. There is also no question that the earth can warm or cool. It has done both at one time or another for thousands of years, even before there were SUVs. ...
"Back in the 1970s, the environmental hysteria was about the dangers of a new ice age. ... Government money is falling on those who seek grants to study global warming and produce 'solutions' for it. But that money is not as likely to fall on those... who refuse to join the stampede." See Saving the Earth

UN Climate Summary Designed to Dupe: "Scientific evidence for human-induced global warming will receive a significant boost Friday when the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) releases the summary of a key report, according to environmental activists and top Democrats in Congress. But wait. Some climate researchers and environmental scientists previously associated with the IPCC claim the public relations summary of the panel's fourth assessment report distorts the actual scientific findings and that the discrepancies are driven by a political agenda. The IPCC Summary for Policymakers, roughly 20 pages long, is primarily the work of political appointees, not of scientists." See Saving the Earth
Polar Bear Politics: "Unless you've been hibernating for the winter, you have no doubt heard the many alarms about global warming. Now even the Bush Administration is getting into the act, at least judging from last week's decision by Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne to recommend that the majestic polar bear be listed as 'threatened' under the Endangered Species Act. The closer you inspect this decision, however, the more it looks like the triumph of politics over science.
" ...when we called Interior spokesman Hugh Vickery for some elaboration, he was a lot less categorical, even a tad defensive. The 'endangered' designation is based less on the actual number of bears in Alaska than on 'projections into the future.'... Apparently so, because there are in fact more polar bears in the world now than there were 40 years ago.... The main threat to polar bears in recent decades has been from hunting .... [T]he Canadian polar bear population has actually increased by 25% -- to 15,000 from 12,000 over the past decade."(1-3-07) See Al Gore’s Vision of Global Salvation and Training children to thank a goddess

The end of the world -- according to Gore: "Less than 10 years.'' That, Gore warns, is all the time that 'leading scientists' say we may have 'before we cross a point of no return' -- unless we make a 'really good start toward dramatic changes' to combat global warming." See Al Gore’s Vision of Planetary Oneness
Separating Fact From Fiction: "Given the lack of an observed warming trend in the lower troposphere, the result is that most of the surface warming in recent decades cannot owe to a human-caused enhanced greenhouse effect. What might cause the surface warming, especially in the early 20th century when greenhouse gases from human activities had not significantly increased in concentration in the atmosphere? The 20th Century temperature pattern shows a strong correlation to energy output of the sun...
"Based on the key temperature measurements of the last several decades, the actual response of the climate to the increased concentration of carbon dioxide and other human-made greenhouse gases content in the air has shown no significant man-made global warming trend.... This means that the human global warming effect, if present, is small and slow to develop. ... Proposals like the Kyoto agreement to sharply cut greenhouse gas emissions are estimated in most economic studies to have enormous economic, social and environmental costs. The cost estimates for the U.S. alone amount to $100 billion to $400 billion per year. Those costs would fall disproportionately on America's and the world's elderly and poor."
