Evangelists visit BYU, Temple Square (This is the article that quoted Greg Johnson stating that, "'We are trying to show the upcoming generation that we don’t have to be confrontational on truth,' Johnson said. 'There is a lot of room for us to build on our compromise of scriptures'" 1/21/05). After being contacted by Christian Research Service, Johnson changed his statements to, "'We are trying to show the upcoming generation that truth does not always have to be confrontational. There is a lot of room for us to build on our common values and share on our perspectives of the scriptures" (Ibid.). While BYU NewsNet maintained they had quoted Greg Johnson properly in their 1/21/05 article, they allowed Johnson's "clarification" on 2/23/05 (see last paragraph of the above article).

Mormonism is not a doctrine consistent with Christianity. Some Mormons may have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, but I can’t call Mormonism Christian. But it is not up to us to determine who is saved. Evangelicals can be too quick to make such pronouncements'" (Winter 2005)
