Clear Mission

A clear mission announces what a ministry will accomplish. Fortunately, Jesus gave us easy-to-understand directions for what He wants, found in the Great Commission:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:19-20, NIV)

Two elements to focus on in a ministry mission:

Evangelism (Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit) Discipleship (teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you)

Many churches use some form of the Great Commission as the basis for their mission, and children's ministries can do the same. Promiseland, the children's ministry at Willow Creek Community Church, developed this mission statement:

Promiseland will supplement the family in reaching kids (evangelism) and helping them become fully devoted followers of Christ (discipleship).
