Launched in September 1995, Books & Culture is a bimonthly review that engages the contemporary world from a Christian perspective in a lively mix of essays, memoirs, interviews, excerpts from new and forthcoming books and other regular features. Every issue of Books & Culture contains in-depth reviews of books that merit critical attention, as well as short notices of significant new titles. While the magazine's center is Christian, as the center of Tikkun, for example, is Jewish, we seek common ground with like-minded souls from other communities of faith.
Books & Culture is published six times a year by Christianity Today International, 465 Gundersen Drive, Carol Stream, Illinois 60188.

Here's a quick introduction to the Books & Culture staff.
David Neff is executive editor of Books & Culture and an editorial vice-president of Christianity Today International. Before arriving at CTI in 1985, David served as editor of HIS magazine, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship's now defunct periodical for college and university students. He and his wife, LaVonne, who is executive editor for trade books at Loyola Press, have two grown daughters and three grandchildren—and one dog to ease the pain of Empty-Nest Syndrome. "My position at CT allows me to see and hear a lot of wonderful things that are happening in the name of religion," says David. "If you listen only to the general media, and feed on stereotypes, you would think religion is, in the main, damaging our society. From where I sit, I know better."
John Wilson is editor of Books & Culture and editor at large for Christianity Today magazine. He received a B.A. from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1970 and an M.A. from California State University, Los Angeles, in 1975. He has a book on the soul forthcoming from Paraclete Press in 2000 and is editing an anthology, Best Christian Writing 2000, forthcoming from HarperSanFrancisco. He and his wife, Wendy, are members of Faith Evangelical Covenant Church in Wheaton; they have four children.
