Noah and the great flood, the first time it rained.

Noah and the great flood, the first time it rained. God told Noah to step out of his comfort zone.

Genesis 9:13:

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

Noah is the ninth descendant from Adam, survivor, with his family, of the flood, Noah's wife, their three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth and their wives.

Genesis chapters 6-9 enjoyable reading.

It took Noah 120 years to built the ark. The flood occurred between 2500 B.C. and 3400 B.C., depending on if you use the Masorentic Hebrew text or the Greek Septuagint of the Old Testament, respectively.

Before the flood the earth seems to have possessed a uniform sub-tropical climate. There was probably no rainfall, no ice and snow, and no major seasonal changes. Most believe in the canopy model for the earth's atmosphere before the flood, which could have provided a greenhouse effect for a worldwide mild climate. A modest vapor canopy holding 40 foot of rainwater may have existed prior to the flood.

Genesis 9:16-17:

[16]And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. [17]And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

Noah

When Noah told the people he was going to build an ark because God was going to make it rain, when it had never rained before they did not know what he was talking about. Water falling out of the sky covering the earth making a flood, they would have thought that is just not possible. Was this man crazy or what? Rain and flood were new words to them.

Why would God want to destroy the earth anyway? They probably did not see themselves as evil people, much like many people today.

He took about 120 years to build this ark to protect him and his family from a flood that would be caused by the mysterious "rain" Noah spoke of. He was probably laughed at and used for all kinds of jokes.

Genesis 7:4-5:

[4]For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth. [5]And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.

Noah and his family were told to go into the ark with the animals seven (7) days before the rain started.

I can imagine that people were outside laughing and making fun of this man for protecting his family from this mysterious rain. After 120 years, they probably thought he had gone beyond just crazy and crossed over to totally insane.

Modern day Noah's.

Many people do not believe that it will be God who destroys the earth but us. We will be, but not in the way they mean. Mankind because of it's lack of faith and believe in God will be the cause.

Many people today spend much time and effort into trying to figure out the what, where, when and how of the end times. When it does come, God's people will know.

But just like in the days of Noah, it will come the way God has already ordained it will come. We must reach as many people as we can with the truth of Salvation through Christ and keep our hearts ready to face whatever God has planned.

We are modern day Noah's when we share the Gospel of Christ. We must step out of our comfort zone to reach the lost before it is too late for them.

Luke 17:26-30:

[26]And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. [27]They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. [28]Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; [29]But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. [30]Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

God wants us to stand against sin. That is easier to do with a group then by alone.

We now have the Covenant of the rainbow in
Quote:
Genesis 9:13, NIV, I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.

Great post KraftyKatz!! I know all too well about the attitude of the billions of people who insist on believing we are ruining the earth and its atmosphere and they can save this place. As you say, God will bring upon this earth His wrath in His due time, and when He does, all the "global warming" and other crowds will be looking for someone like Noah and the nearest "ark".

Thanks,
B2Y

Great post KK!

As b2y says, there are many who are going to be caught unaware even though plenty was around for them to see.

Much love in Christ,

Virginia

Love your post, Krafty.

Michael Card in one of his songs wrote that tears are older than the rain. Noah was the ninth descendant of Adam and Eve (who were kicked out of the Garden because of disobedience to God). Their's were the first tears, 9 generations before Noah.

The New Testament talks about two workers in a field, one is taken and one remains. The sins are the same and one day soon God will no longer tarry.

Thanks for sharing. God bless. John1010
