Steve Irwin (Crocodile Hunter) Has Died
Posted By: abelajohnb [image] [image] [image]

For many, including me, Steve Irwin has been a hero!

It was reported today that Steve has died today after being struck in the chest by a stingray barb.

(watch the news report)

Not only has Steve Irwin been a hero of mine because of his work with many of God's creations that I myself so very much enjoy, but because Steve has an energy about him that I wish I had... that I wish everybody had... that I wish Christians had.

Steve was one of those rare people today who are just naturally full of life.

I find it so very strange that so many Christians are not like that themselves... after all, we have been given the best of life... eternal life - yet how many of us seem so depressed, down, and just look at life so totally backwards that what we should be, as Believers of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour of mankind, His creation?

To Steve: Thank you for continuing to show me that life is about life, passion, a drive toward that which you believe in the most, and most importantly... for being a constant reminder of the Joy that Jesus Christ can bring a person!

I hadn't heard the news on this till I read your blog earlier today. It totally took me by surprise! I had to check out the news. What a freak accident....

Our prayers go out to his family.

LISTEN: Steve's cameramen recall some heart-pounding moments with the Crocodile Hunter.

I will add more as I find them...

I've seen more parodies of Steve than the real Steve, I think. He was almost a legend in his own time. We can take solace in the fact that he died doing what he loved: working with animals. Somehow, when I first heard that he had died, I immediately knew that it was a dangerous creature that did him in. I was surprised only to learn that it was stingray, rather than a large predator (such as a tiger or a crocodile--those animals just seemed more likely). I never watched his show, but I will miss him. He really did become his own institution!

My family and I have watched Steve from the very beginning. We loved his entheusasim for life and his love for all Gods creatures. His passing has hit us all very hard. He will be sorely missed. One thing I can say for Steve is that he was "wide awake". Nothing slipped past without his noticing it. It's like he was a member of our family. Each time we watched him it was like he was speaking just to us.

You are very right, Christians should show that sort of entheusasim for life and Gods word. "Crikey, have a go at this! Isn't this a BEAUTIFUL verse! What a promise from GOD! Whoo, God Rules!!"

Thanks for posting the videos, they are difficult to watch but necessary. What a beautiful tribute to a one of a kind guy.

I came across an interview of George Noory on Coast To Coast AM of Steve.

It is a nice little interview (windows media file - 35:41 minutes) in which you can really feel the passion of Steve.... oh dear Christians... we seriously need to find this same level of passion for our Saviour and Lord!

I just came across a news report that Steves daughter, Bindi Irwin, is going to be launching her career in a new show called "Bindi the Jungle Girl."

RIP Steve website

This is probably the best site about Steve, his work, loves and life. I visit there often. All the updates about the new zoo projects are on there, as well as many videos, tributes, pictures, information about his death and a forum site to chat about Steve. Check it out, it's wonderful!

I took a few minutes to watch the "Bindi: the Jungle Girl" video clip.
I'm not so sure her mother is completely for Bindi doing this.
Watch the expressions on her face.
I think Bindi is loving it, but mom....

Hello all,

I watched the video of Bindi and the Bison. Very cute. Normally Bison are dangerous, this one must have been hand raised for Bindi to be able to handle it. Bindi sure loves to be in front of the camera, her camera man was interviewed once and he said she is a total natural.

I also watched Terri's face during the interview. What struck me is how exhauseted she looks. Every video I had seen her in, till Steve's death, she was upbeat and chipper. It's only been 6 short weeks since Steve's tragic death. An unexpected event that totally changed her world. But their work MUST go on. Bindi is determined to keep her father's dream alive, and maybe part of him as well. I know that Terri voiced to her mother that she was worried about being a single Mum. Now she must keep up with her precocious daughter as well. I doubt she has had much chance to grieve, in private. She said she does not like to cry in front of Bob and Bindi. She is trying to be strong. Internalizing such grief is very tiring.

I wonder too, if she is worried, not only about her daughter being in the spotlight too soon, but her little girl suffering the same fate as her dear father.

The best thing to do is continue to pray for Terri, Bindi and Bob. As a mother she bears her childrens' grief as well. So above all she needs the most prayer and comfort.

I have read your article about Steve and his love of reptiles and the like and yes I have seen him on tv with my daughter in amazement.

It was truely a shock when he died. I couldn't believe it. His wife and children must be devastated. He has certainly left a legacy behind. I wonder if the family will continue with it because they want to or because they ought to in memory of Steve? I have wondered this. Will he be missed? I'm sure He will by many.

In honesty although I admired him I always thought there was an element of unnecessary danger attached, as though he pushed himself just that little bit further. Maybe I'm right or maybe I'm wrong it was just my impression. My thoughts on this unique man faltered when he used his very young child to show the world his confidence with these amazing creatures that God has made. I pass no judgement but as a mother my natural instinct came to the forefront.

When I did hear the news about his death the book of Job Chapter 41 came to mind. Have a read. Crocodiles are the most incredible animals even to the Lord.

I think personally (my opinion only) Steve just pushed the boat out further than he should. Ironic that he should die not from these dangerous animals but a lesser of God's ferocious creatures.

May God bless His Family and I pray that there will be more respect for animals in this world.

Thank you for this article.
