Logitech has jumped on the iPod bandwagon, bringing its wireless technologies to your iPod listening pleasure.
A pair of sleek white around-the-head headphones are enough to draw your attention, but what really stands out is that they lack any cabling. These new Logitech Wireless Headphones use Bluetooth 1.2 technology for audio over thin air, and the neodymium drivers should produce great sound in a lightweight package. Weighing it at just over 3oz for the headphones, and 1oz for the transmitter, they certainly aren’t a bear to carry. And unlike many ‘any-player’ solutions, this ‘made for iPod’ headphone uses a dock connector for the highest quality audio possible.
They should transmit audio up to 30ft, though my personal experience with such units is that 10ft is a better reliable estimate. The headset and transmitter both use rechargeable batteries, which charge in about 2.5 hours, and supposedly last up to 8 hours – I’d give them maybe 4-5 hours given comments I’ve read. Still, that’s pretty good. Add to that they have playback controls, so the iPod can be in a backpack while you control it from the headphones.
Pricing in at $149.99, these are certainly more expensive than your average headphones – but not given the technology, size, weight, etc. However, they are a ‘one size fits all’ band, so people with really big heads might want to try them first! ![]()
For those of you without an iPod, there’s also an ‘any-player’ variation that plugs into any standard minijack audio connection.
