Targus continues its advancement into the consumer electronics market, with a new wireless iPod remote control (RemoteTunes) and an iPod audio amplifier (SoundUP) kicking things off.
While it seems to be a repackaged ABT iJet, the Targus RemoteTunes remote control should be a great addition to the marketplace. The RemoteTunes uses RF (radio frequency) technology like a car remote, rather than infrared, so it has an upper range of 150 feet, and does not require line-of-sight. It comes packaged with a table stand and stereo cable to hook your iPod up to a home stereo, and then sit back and enjoy! Oh, it also comes with a belt clip for the remote, so you can have it with you as you move around your house or office. We’re looking forward to getting a unit in for review.
The second neat new product is a portable amplifier for the iPod, called the SoundUP. It is a “high definition sound enhancer and amplifier”, which means it boosts and clears up the audio – for the portable audio addicted, amplifiers are all the rage. The SoundUP has been intelligently designed, also incorporating a second audio jack (so you can share your music with a friend), as well as a pass-through connector for a remote (like the RemoteTunes or Apple’s own).
