While they haven’t given it a ‘rename’ like the PSone unit got, the new ‘Network’ PS2 is remarkably smaller than the original, should fit better into tight rooms/spaces, and is actually small and light enough to take with you. We’re assuming that it will be more compatible with commercial DVDs and home-recorded ones, and of course it comes with a modem and 10/100 ethernet built-in for immediate access to network gaming. Plantronics has introduced a custom ‘Halo 2′ branded Xbox headset, adding to their GameCom lineup of headsets for the platform. The new headset is supposed to be lighter, more comfortable, have better sound pickup and noise cancelling, and will match coloring of the new green-and-black Halo 2 Xbox unit. Some major changes to the ApeXtreme console have taken place behind closed doors – and now we get to see the outcome. The addition of PVR capabilities is certain to make this a hot device! The ‘downgrading’ of the GPU from a DeltaChrome DX9-shader chipset to a GeForce 4MX (non-shader) chipset will certainly reduce the game-playing ‘power’ of the product.
