[image] Joyland's Purpose

Joyland Learning Center exists for several reasons. Our highest calling, however, is for the spiritual development and growth of children. We take the opportunity of daycare to teach and train children from God's Word, develop good social skills, make learning fun and establish a daily routine which ministers to the spiritual, physical, emotional and educational needs of our students. All that we do is done in an effort to compliment the structure and teachings of the home.

Location

Joyland is located in the basement of Central Assembly.  Click on the left for
directions and mapping information.

Curriculum
Each week we study the Letter of the Week. The starring letter is
reinforced through a variety of activities. There is also
a time for pledges, math and phonics, gym, music, and Bible each
day. The Bible curriculum used is based on The Beginner's Bible and
includes daily activities and weekly scripture memorization.

Naptime
All children are required to take a time of rest. Each child rests on
a cot in their regular classroom. A small pillow, blanket, and a
sheet must be brought for nap time. You may also bring a favorite
doll or animal. These items must be left at Joyland and will be sent
home on Fridays for laundering. The children are never left alone
during naptime. A teacher is always present should an emergency
or problem arise.

Menus
The menu is posted on the bulletin board over the sign-in book. We
are on a 20-day rotation. The menu includes breakfast, lunch and
a snack.

Discipline
We enjoy and prefer using positive reinforcement whenever possible.
Hugs, stickers, special privileges, candy, and Happy Grams are just a
sampling of the ways in which good behavior is encouraged. Time-
out, loss of privilege, and a phone call to a parent are our only negative
forms of discipline. We never, ever spank or strike a child. Most
importantly, we desire to work together with you, the parent, in the best
interest of your child.

Illnesses and Accidents
If your child has a fever, diarrhea, vomiting, runny eyes, or a rash he
or she may not be brought to Joyland Learning Center. Such symptoms
indicate a possible infectious disease.

Parents will be notified by phone when their child becomes ill or injured
at Joyland. Arrangements will be made at that time for removing the child
as quickly as possible. In the case of illness, a child may return to
Joyland after being symptom-free for at least 24 hours or with written
permission from a physician stating that the child is not contagious.

Parents will be notified when their child has been exposed to an
infectious disease at Joyland.

Supplies
Each student is given a cubby to store their supplies in. A complete change
of clothes (labeled with the child's name) should be brought at the beginning
of each season.

Children in the 2, 2/3 and 3/4 classes should bring the following supplies:

School Box, Large Crayons, Glue Stick, Kleenex, Scissors (not in the 2's),
Pencil (not in the 2's)

Children in the 4/5 classes will need to bring the above supplies with regular-sized
crayons substituted for the large.

Field Trips
Field trips to local community services, parks, and places of interest will be
made available as often as is possible, particularly during the summer months
for school-age children. Notification of field trips will be posted on the bulletin
board above the sign-in book. Walks around the block or quick trips to the
park in the summer may be planned suddenly according to the weather without
notification.

Programs
Joyland Learning Center is a 12-month program with classes throughout the
year. Each year all of the children enrolled at Joyland Learning Center have
the opportunity to participate in a Christmas program. We offer a Graduation
for the Pre-Kindergarten classes in the Spring and there is also an Open
House in the Fall.

Statements
Joyland is now on a pre-pay tuition system. Checks must be received by
Monday at 5:30 pm for your child to attend the coming week.

Legal Holidays
There is no reduction in tuition when Joyland is closed for a legal holiday.

will be posted in advance. The legal holidays observed by Joyland are New
