It is certain that the remainder of the 2008 Presidential Campaign will focus on the supposed "weaknesses" of the 2 candidates.
Is McCain really "older than dirt" and is he healthy enough to be the next president?
Is Obama so "inexperienced" and "pro-Muslim / pro-Black" that it will hurt America if he is elected?
If elected at 71 years of age John McCain will become the oldest president ever voted in. In a society in which those members 65 and over are considered "old" and are supposed to retire, why would American voters be interested in such an older candidate?
Isn't age really a significant issue? At least as much as the "inexperience" factor? Aren't people over 70 more forgetful and less focused to do a job well? Especially re: the job of leading our nation during the next 4 years?
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/01/25/politics...
In addition, McCain has been diagnose previously with a malignant melanoma, which is a difficult health issue to overcome. Should he be voted in despite his questionable health?
http://i.usatoday.net/news/mmemmottpdf/mccain-heal...
These 2 issues will continue to haunt McCain and he will be placed under the microscope more as the November election approaches.
As for Obama, the issue of his inexperience is one of the more highlighted factors considered by American voters and will be difficult to push aside.
http://www.newsmax.com/kessler/Obama_Inexperience/...
Is it enough for Obama to select an experienced Cabinet and advisors to overcome his own inexperience as a major leader? Are intelligence and self-assurance enough to win the American people?
In addition, so many Americans are concerned about Obama's allegiance to the Muslim culture and also see his run for President as a conveyance to provide blacks in this nation with a stronger voice to achieve greater objectives. Is the Presidential campaign one that has racist overtones?
The issue of whether Obama is a radical Muslim who is an unpatriotic American is an issue that continues to haunt him in his quest for the presidency.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/Muslim.asp
According to Snopes, there is no data that proves the myth.
Regarding his ties to the black community, obviously he is concerned how blacks in this nation are being treated and is sensitive to this issue.
http://www.blackagendareport.com/index.php?option=...
However, Obama has tried to push himself away from this perspective and has refrained from highlighted his ties to the black community.

Will Obama be able to overcome the 2 issues of inexperience and ties to the Muslim / Black communities? Certainly, how he handles these issues for the next several months is paramount towards his success in winning the election.
The facts show us that neither candidate [McCain or Obama] is immune from weaknesses, which will have a great affect on American voters and on each one's chances in becoming the next President.
It will be interesting to see how each candidate will attempt to erase his weaknesses and buffer the concerns of American voters.

Well the comparison could be
Submitted by Sandra Price on July 25, 2008 - 8:19am.Well the comparison could be obvious if we look at the accomplishments of the Bush Administration and the Republican Senate. There are far more negatives than positives in the last 8 years of the Republicans.
From the failure of our infrastructures due to lack of leadership, we lost many Americans during Katrina and other failures of the river dams and levees. We have had near airline collisions due to the outsourcing of many of the service agreements to off shore organizations. We have seen a rise in war zone costs due to bringing in contractors who had only a Christian background and costing the tax payers 3 times what our soldiers were being paid. We have seen members of the Bush Administration break the laws within the Constitution and having the President issue executive privilege not to testify.
We have seen a Republican President lie in his teeth to the American people and enter us into a war based on his lies. We have seen this approved over and over by Senator McCain.
If the American people are unaware of the gross actions by the GOP, then we have to put up with another 8 years of the same old itshay!
Obama is a clean slate. He has charmed the angry European nations into waving American flags again. Give the guy 4 years to prove that Americans come is all colors and flavors. The GOP has divided our nation into some terrible groups of hateful labels. Let's dump them in November, give Obama 4 years to prove himself and if he fails, we need another second party to run against him. As far as I'm concerned the GOP has lost all credibility.
Here is the deal..... People
Submitted by pollchecker on July 25, 2008 - 1:46pm.Here is the deal.....
People only make changes when they are hurting and people are hurting really bad. And they are going to be hurting even worse by November.
McCain's policies are the standard old lie, cheat and steal Republican Bushie BS. It doesn't work. It didn't work under Reagan...remember we had a recession under Reagan. It didn't work under either Bush. And it won't work under McCain.
There's an old saying...fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice shame on me! I just hope the American public is not fooled by Bush/McCain AGAIN!
You want differences? Well here is one of the biggest and most important difference......
McCain wants to make Bush's tax cuts for the rich PERMANENT and he wants to cut taxes for corporations. Which means one of two consequences has to happen as a result.....one is he will have to raise taxes for the Average Joe who is already making $2000 less than he was when George took power in 2000 but is spending $4600 MORE than in 2000. This would really hurt Middle America and cause the recession to be even worse. The other is they are going to have to cut programs. The Republicans have already shown us what that means and it obviously doesn't mean cutting the Military Industrial Complex which means it will have to cut programs that actually help Americans instead.
And make no bones about it, cutting corporate taxes won't create jobs. It will only go to making their profit look better so they can increase their stock value and the higher up rich fat cats can make more money!
Obama on the other hand wants to take back Bush tax cuts for the rich and give the Average Joe, Middle America, tax cuts. This will help the economy.
There are other differences. John McCain wants to drill our way out of the oil mess. Can't be done.
AMERICA USES 21 BILLION BARRELS OF OIL PER DAY!
No amount of drilling is going to match our usage. So the only alternative is to decrease our usage and turn to other methods.
This would have been done 8 years ago if we had President Gore. GW on the other hand has not done a damn thing other than talk about it. If he had mandated better gas mileage sooner, things probably would not be in such a bad shape.
The Republican party for the past 10 years has wanted to create a Middle Class in countries like India so they would have more customers to sell their products to but what they did not take into consideration (because they don't give issues enough consideration but instead are lead like a dog by money) is that this new class would have worldwide effects on consumption and that they might be hurting their original customers (Americans) as a result which is exactly what has happened.
All one has to do is go to www.congress.org and look up John McCain's voting record to see that this guy is not only VERY OLD and really out of touch (he can't even use a computer to surf the internet) but his voting record is nothing but a reflection of the Republican National Committee. We don't need 4 MORE YEARS of Bush policies via Bush/McCain!
That is for certain. Our economy simply cannot nor will not handle it.

AMERICA USES 21 BILLION
Submitted by woody188 on July 25, 2008 - 2:18pm.AMERICA USES 21 BILLION BARRELS OF OIL PER DAY!
I think you meant million. We would be out of oil tomorrow at billion per day. :)
Ooops...my finger slipped.
Submitted by pollchecker on July 25, 2008 - 2:59pm.Ooops...my finger slipped. Afterall the m is right next to the B on the keyboard.
Most people don't realize how many barrels of oil that AMERICANS ALONE (not including the rest of the world) consume.
You have to admit, though, that's a helluva lot of barrel of oil (NOT GALLONS OF GASOLINE)that we alone consume!
Personally, I think the Billion should get people's attention but I stand corrected. Thanks
Irrespective of any
Submitted by VietnamVet on July 25, 2008 - 3:17pm.Irrespective of any shortcomings Obama may have, I am firmly convinced that he could do no worse than the disaster we have gone through during the past 7 plus years. The list of what this administration has done TO this nation is long and mind boggling, starting with shredding the constitution, starting an unnecessary war of choice, lying to the American people, one Republican misdeed after another, tax breaks for the rich at the expense of the less fortunate, and the list goes on and on. I just cannot believe that the American people will be so gullible as to vote for four more years of the same!
Yes, and in 2000 I didn't
Submitted by pollchecker on July 25, 2008 - 3:49pm.Yes, and in 2000 I didn't think Americans would fall for George's load of Bull...but they did.
And in 2004, I didn't think they would be stupid enough to vote for King George twice, but they did.
So I'm not taking it for granted and I don't think anyone else should that Americans wouldn't be stupid enough to vote for McSame and 4 more years of Bush's policies in force.
Afterall, most Americans don't even know the capital of their own state and probably could not find Vietnam on a map.
