What is one leadership principle that has helped guide your ministry?

"Wherever you are...be all the way there". I can't remember which author or speaker I first heard it from...but it's one of the toughest principles, yet most rewarding, that I've learned.

I try to work on the premise that in everything I could do, there is at least one person in my congregation who could do it better. Find that person and equip him or her.

The leadership principle that has helped my ministry is the All Inclusive Style. I do a task on my own and let others watch me. The next time, I do it together with the group that I'm training. The third time, I have the group do it and I watch and give feedback. This help to create a lot of competent workers.

Don't undermine the people who work for you to their other teammates. Build up people, even after they stumble. Be a cheerleader.

I was mentored into the principle of "investing in your senior leaders". This has guided me as I work with boards and committees, small group leaders and ministry coordinators. It's important to genuinely invest in those leaders, especially for pastors who are called to equip the saints for the work of ministry.

If God's called each person "following" you - working with you - to that ministry at that time, then there are creative ways their gifts are to be used to flesh out the face of that ministry. If you expect it to look like your own creation, it will. God is so much more creative than us!

The principle of Collective Value. Maxwell said it well when he noted that 'one is too small a number of greatness.' The truth is that together we are better, stronger, wiser and more effective than any one of us are by ourselves. The greatest definition of teamwork I have ever heard is 'submitting to each other's strengths, and protecting one another from their weakness.'
