Flashback Friday - His Reaction

Published by BlogMom under Flashback Friday

You were nervous. You were excited. You are anxious. You were scared. You were every emotion known to man, but most of all you were expecting! And then you had to tell the Hubby. This week I thought it would be fun to flashback to his reaction to the news - the first child and the first reaction.

Our first child was planned. In fact, he was so planned that it was almost a science experiment. LOL!!! Even so, the news of his impending arrival was still a shock for everyone. We knew it would happen, but we never thought it would happen so soon! Seriously, we planned and we did our thing one time and it happened - I guess we are just super fertile!

So, when I took the test and saw the positive result I thought it would be fun to just leave it in the bathroom and let Hubby find it on his own. Well, that night he stopped off at Taco Bell for dinner and in he walked with the Taco Bell bag loaded up with burrito goodness. I said to him, “Before we eat come with me. I want to show you something.” So he followed me - still holding the Taco Bell bag.

We walked into the bathroom where I held up the test and he, in such a man kind of way said, “What’s that?” Well, duh!!!

“It’s a pregnancy test.”

“Oh. Uh… What’s it say?”

I broke into a huge smile, “We’re having a baby!”

He just stood there in silence. There was no response at all for the longest time. He was totally in a daze. I’m not sure what went on in his head, but he seemed to forget where he was when he finally spoke, “What’s for dinner?”

LOL!!! I just looked at him and pointed at the bag in his hand. LOL!!! It cracks me up every time I think about it!

We went in the dining room and ate our dinner and he eventually had it sink in and just looked at me and said, “A baby? Really?”

Oh yes, Dear, a baby - and the parenting gig began. ;)

The Great Experiment

Published by BlogMom under Mommy Materials

Remember this commercial?

This page contained an embedded video. Click here to view it.

Well, I decided to do my own experiment. I was at Wal-Mart the other day and they were giving away Force Flex bags - one for everyone - to try out.

I figure if they can stuff a busted up piano in it then I should be able to stuff a dining room chair in! Let’s find out!

Here’s the chair (with booster seat still on!):

Here are the kids holding the bag by the chair:

Well, it would appear that it just won’t stretch around the chair! Perhaps it is too big of a chair - it even started to tear in one spot!

So, I decided to shove in some kid toys. As you can see here, the bag began to tear from the books and toys I shoved in:

Here is a tear right near the little play farmhouse they have:

And here is what happened when I tried to pick it up:

Conclusion - these bags blow. Don’t waste your money - the commercial is ridiculous. Oh sure, they may be great for regular kitchen trash, but for the claims that the company makes - well, the pictures don’t lie. ;)

Tuesday’s Tip Jar

Published by BlogMom under Tuesday's Tip Jar

My daughter has the craziest most out of control hair - it is straight on top and insanely curly at the bottom - like spiral curls! And it is natural - and I don’t know where she gets it from! Well, these curls have made it most difficult at times to comb through. We use a shampoo with conditioner that is supposed to help and it does help a little, but it can still be a fight to get her hair combed out after a bath. One thing we have started doing that has helped A LOT is to comb her hair while she is in the bath. By doing this her hair hasn’t had any time at all to dry and when it is still soaking wet for some reason those curls cause no trouble at all. Once she is all out and dry we run the comb through again - it still starts to tangle up once dry because of the curls, but by combing it out in the bath it isn’t nearly as bad as it could be and we don’t have anywhere near the amount of tears that we used to.

Now it’s your turn - drop a tip in the jar!
