How many sides does Obama's mouth have?

He says this kind of thing because he wants to appear more conservative than he is. He'll get away with it if the media doesn't call him on it.

They won't. So the question is, how are we going to call him on it?

ChrisB,

I fear you may be right, but thankfully Charles Krauthammer has pointed out the flip-flopping toward the center last week and again today. And even a left-leaning NYT writer has voiced criticism.

In the second article from Krauthammer that Alex posts above, Krauthammer points out what I am most curious about regarding Obama, "Once he gets [to the White House] he will have to figure out what he really believes." I often wonder that lately regarding him. What does he really believe and will he do what he really believes when he gets elected (I happen to think he will get elected) or will he run based on polls?

Justin,

That's an excellent question -- that is the core of making a decision for president. Despite what's going on during the campaign, what will they actually do in office.

I'm very angry about what President Bush has done versus what he said and there is no question that Sen. McCain has tacked way right on some issues for the campaign.

How can one predict what someone will do outside of political campaigning?

(That is President Bush's main problem; he never stopped the political campaigning.)

Obama's 21st century revised to fit the hedonistic American lifestyle "Christianity" has no regard for innocent life and can/will change on a whim to fit his political needs.

Da,

It's nice to see you so sure about Obama. I think he does have a regard for life, he just doesn't follow your formula of reducing abortion. I'm wondering how other methods of reducing abortions could do better than talking about making laws.

Brian,
All good Christians (those who understand that murder/abortion is a sin) should be compelled to take a harder stance on abortion than Obama's (who is pro-choice/murder). The fact he is a democrat means that he can't break away from his party which will always put self-centered feminists INCONVENIENCES over innocent babies LIVES.

John McCormack:Barack Obama recently told a Christian magazine he opposes late-term abortions performed because of mental health problems of the mother. "I don't think that 'mental distress' qualifies as the health of the mother. I think it has to be a serious physical issue that arises in pregnancy, where there are real, significant problems to the mother carrying that child to term," Obama said. But the Supreme Court's ruling in Roe v. Wade's concurrent case, Doe v. Bolton, held that "medical judgment may be exercised in the light of all factors--physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman's age -- relevant to the wellbeing of the patient. All these factors may relate to health." Doe v. Bolton is the reason that abortion remains legal throughout all 9 months of pregnancy for essentially any reason. Unless Obama intends to appoint Supreme Court justices who will overturn that decision, his opposition to late-term abortions performed for mental health reasons is meaningless.
