Good to know it wasn't just me...
I lost all but 3 that I was following, and all my followers on Twitter. Was beginning to feel Left Behind, but was in great company - you, Perry Noble and Todd Rhoades. :- )
I think Jayson is right, I had about 25% of my followers disappear as well. I am pretty sure they were "spam" followers. Which I don't really get the point of anyway.
I lost several people that were following me, and I also lost several people that I was following - I had to add them back on today. I guess we will see what happens
I think we have to determine whether we tweet just to gain tons of followers or if we tweet to add to the community within our circles of friends. If it's the latter, numbers of followers are not relevant. :) http://news.cnet.com/8301-13515_3-9998595-26.html
We had a rapture and now a second coming :) Crazy!

I started twittering a little over a month ago. Absolutely love it. Until today! I discovered that about 300 followers mysteriously disappeared. It was like a twitter rapture!
I love the twitter concept. 140 characters. Little life updates. It's become my "mini-blog". But seems like their are some gaps in the technology. I'm no geek, but even I back up my information. The old save button!

I've found that Twitter crashes fairly often. Great idea, they just needed to invest in a little better technology to run the idea.

You may have had that many that were spam bots. They delete them sometimes.
Perhaps more like a "Fire and Brimstoning" than a Rapture?

Looks like it's a "mass" problem. Be very interesting to see how this turns out. Can't imagine the headaches at Twitter headquarters.

I hear www.identi.ca is an up and coming alternative to Twitter.

I just read an article that they are spending huge dollars to upgrade...they were overwhelmed
with the response.

Sounds like it is a database issue after all:

I'm still following you : ) Yeah, I lost 8 since yesterday - not quite as many as you. I wonder if they got rid of some spam/ad profiles?

I follow about 20 people... Mark, you are one of them and during the "rapture" I lost you... then later, you were back...
