What is this?

I have a bunch of random stuff spread all over the Interweb. I had a closed down consulting company that I was still using the domain for, a new and still active blog about mobility, a site for blog and RSS/Atom related hacks, a site for mobile software and info. All over! A certain someone has been pestering me to pull it all together in one place and start cleaning it up, so here goes. I actually own rowehl.com, so it seemed like the logical place to put this stuff.

About Mike Rowehl

I'm a programmer living in San Mateo, California in the United States - an area generally known as Silicon Valley. I was going to write some summary info in here, but I think a nice simple list of quick points would do this more justice:

My main web presence is my mobility focused weblog, This is Mobility. I'm working on a link exchange for mobile websites. I was co-founder of defunct startup called Mowser, a service for making the web available to mobile phones. Recently worked as Director of Technology at AdMob, a bidded marketplace for mobile advertising. I recently worked at Ning, a free platform for hosting social applications. Check out my pivot page to see what I'm doing. Russ and I run the Mobile Monday Silicon Valley meetings. Huge open source fan. My hosting provider is Server Matrix. Don't use Windows, I moved Windows off my personal systems in favor of Linux some time during 1998 and haven't even glanced back. My current distro of choice is Ubuntu. Spent a long time doing Linux embedded systems development. My Scheme environment of choice is DrScheme. Self taught, I never finished college. Got bored and wandered off, never wandered back. No one seems to care. Treasurer of the Jason Morse fan club. Grew up on Long Island, which is kinda like this big strip mall that extends out from New York City. I didn't like it then, and I don't like it now. Animation and anime fan. Ghost in the Shell is right up at the top of my list, as is Serial Experiments Lain. My favorite band of all time is Tool. I'm El Presidente at Modern Despot. Other time sinks are a 350Z and a CBR 900RR.
