Key Apologetics Scriptures
Christianity—The Alternative to Blind Faith
The notion that Christianity is based on blind faith certainly wasn’t Paul’s idea—or Peter’s or John’s or James’. From the beginning, trust in Christ was based on what believers had seen—Jesus’ miracles, His authoritative teaching, the resurrection—and what they understood through clear-headed consideration of the Old Testament and the world around them. That’s why contending, reasoning, and arguing for the faith was such a crucial part of life for the New Testament writers, and should be for us today. The scriptures noted below highlight the reasonable roots of our faith.
Luke 1:1-4
Many have undertaken to compile a narrative about the events that have been fulfilled among us, just as the original eyewitnesses and servants of the word handed them down to us. It also seemed good to me, since I have carefully investigated everything from the very first, to write to you in orderly sequence, most honorable Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things about which you have been instructed.

Acts 1:3
After He [Jesus] had suffered, He also presented Himself alive to them [the apostles] by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during 40 days and speaking about the kingdom of God.
Acts 9:22
But Saul grew more capable, and kept confounding the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that this One is the Messiah.
Acts 13:43
After the synagogue had been dismissed, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who were speaking with them and persuading them to continue in the grace of God.
Acts 17:16-17
While Paul was waiting for them [Silas and Timothy] in Athens, his spirit was troubled within him when he saw that the city was full of idols. So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with those who worshiped God, and in the marketplace every day with those who happened to be there.
Acts 19:8
Then he [Paul] entered the synagogue and spoke boldly over a period of three months, engaging in discussion and trying to persuade them about the things related to the kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 15:3-8
For I passed on to you as most important what I also received:
that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
that He was buried,
that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve.
Then He appeared to over 500 brothers at one time,
most of whom remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.
Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
Last of all, as to one abnormally born,
He also appeared to me.
2 Corinthians 10:4b-5
We demolish arguments and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
Philippians 1:16b
I am appointed for the defense of the gospel.
Colossians 2:3
In Him all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.
Colossians 2:6-8
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world, and not based on Christ.
1 Peter 3:15-16
But set apart the Messiah as Lord in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you. However, do this with gentleness and respect, keeping your conscience clear, so that when you are accused, those who denounce your Christian life will be put to shame.
2 Peter 1:16
For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made know to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; instead, we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.
2 Peter 3:15-18
Also, regard the patience of our Lord as an opportunity for salvation, just as our dear brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you. He speaks about these things in all his letters, in which there are some matters that are hard to understand. The untaught and unstable twist them to their own destruction, as they also do with the rest of the Scriptures. Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard, so that you are not led away by the error of the immoral and fall from your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Jude 1:24-25
Now to Him who is able to protect you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of His glory, blameless and with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now, and forever. Amen.
