Happy 21st Birthday, Zachary!!!

What can I say that I have not already said in various ways…Buddy Boy I love you. You are just the best friend I could ever ask for at Ferrum and you have worked so hard to help me make things work. I know that you have dealt with me on my good days and my bad days and some how you managed not to run and hide when you heard that there were two, yes two, tech weeks for me in the theater last semester.

I love you…it is as simple as that. Have a great birthday, pal!!!

Life Question #12

@ 5:32 pm July 4th, 2008 by admin · No Comments

Do people still rely on covenants or contracts today? What purpose do they serve?
Yes, contracts are still in use today but they seem to be used to punish people when they do not do as they had agreed to do they are two sided documents. When God makes a covenant with some person or nation it is, or at least it strikes me as, a one sided thing kind of like: he is just stating what he was going to do, like it or not, take it or leave it, appreciate it or take it for granted, that was up to the people that God made the covenant to. He is always faithful and will not be unfaithful to himself.

You’re Calling Me

@ 8:38 am February 1st, 2008 by admin · No Comments

To lay aside the worries of my day
To quiet down my busy mind
and find a hiding place.
You are Worthy…

Those opening lines to the praise and worship song “Unashamed Love” really hit me these days…I keep myself so busy of late but never manage to really get anything done, and I feel so off-center.
Maybe this morning while we are on a weather delay here at Ferrum College I will get this one pesky assignment done and then curl up with the Word and see what unexpected reminders and lessons He has in store for me

…Of my honest praise
and of a Child-like Faith
… You are Worthy

Introductions are in order

Beta Tech meet Ferrum College, Ferrum College meet Beta Tech. Beta Tech has a paralegal training program that is done in the following manner. For any 5 week period you have 4 hours worth of class four days a week, that may mean 1 class (as in your internship) or that may mean 4 classes, or any other odd combination thereof. My classes all ran from roughly 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and I was the only student in the Paralegal program to have any kind of lunch or snack break. At the end of the five week term (called a MOD) you simply put those old class materials away forever as you will no longer need them, you are done with that class. Ferrum College is your standard four-year residential college. Ferrum has 2 semesters per year, during which you may take up to 19 credit hours. That could mean 3 classes or 8. At Ferrum you have some choice over the order in which you take classes and at what time as well as on what days. At Beta Tech they hand you your class schedule and books and that is about it. All of this may make Ferrum sound like it is an easier place to take classes… But then there is E-Term… E-Term is a brand new thing at Ferrum. E-Term is a three week time when the students can take a class 5 days a week 6 hours (or at least that is the written Schedule) a day. At the end of that the kids walk out with one of 2 required E-Terms, maybe 3 credits under their belts, possibly a general education requirement met, and above all they are beat tired and within 2 heart beats of a stroke. I am glad I am not there right now because of the living arrangements but I really wish I was there since I am a veteran at this sort of schedule and could help my pals relax a little.
