Kaiser in Peace and War
Release Year: 1930 Country: DE Run Time: 40 minutes
Plot
This documentary was culled from twenty years' worth of newsreel footage of Kaiser Wilhelm, the former crown prince of Germany. Every effort is made to cast the Kaiser in a positive light, perhaps in hopes of wiping out his image as a heartless warmonger. Very little time is expended on WWI; most of the film concentrates on Wilhelm and his family in exile at Doorn Castle in Holland. In keeping with the custom of the period, the cameramen do their best not to photograph the Kaiser's withered and atrophied arm, just as President Roosevelt's wheelchair would be avoided by most newsreel makers. Running 40 minutes, The Kaiser in Peace and War was released in the U.S. in January of 1930. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
