Product Description
Several years ago, I read a short article (one of those what happened in days of yore paragraphs) about some gunmen being hung from a windmill in a small town in New Mexico now known as Las Vegas. My imagination began wondering about the incident and what led up to it. Having lived in New Mexico most of my life, the history of the state has always fascinated me, be it Conquistadors, train robbers or cowboys. I believe my story pretty much nails the actual happening.

Jeannine Van Eperen has been writing most of her life, having won her first writing award in second grade at Chicago's Grey School. Jeannine attended schools in Chicago and in New Mexico including the University of New Mexico and College of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande, as well as Western States University College of Law in Anaheim, California. Jeannine studied ballet from Comicoff in Chicago, was a teenage model, and has appeared in little theatre in Chicago and Albuquerque. She and husband, Lou, are both pilots and have a love of travel. They've been to all fifty of the United States, Puerto Rico, most Canadian Provinces, a little of Mexico, and thirty foreign countries. Jeannine believes her travels have made describing various settings in her stories authentic as well as easy for her. Her careers outside of writing have been in the banking, insurance and motel managing businesses. Ms. Van Eperen, was Director of Publicity and Assistant to the Dean of Students for the University of Albuquerque. She has one son, Daniel McGrew of Littleton, Colorado and grandchildren, Sean, Corey and Ian. Her novel Memory and Desire was the recipient of the FAR-award: Book of the Year 2005 from Wings. Daughter of Spain received the Clementi Award for historical. Jeannine Van Eperen was also one of ten writers invited to participate in the Chicago Public Library Writing Workshop. Despite her love for New Mexico Jeannine and husband, Lou, recently moved to the state of her birth, Wisconsin, residing now in Combined Locks. When not writing Jeannine enjoys downhill skiing, needlework, playing euchre with her friends, and, of course, reading.
This story is told simply about life in a small western town. Sheriff Ben and his wife, Myra, are content. The only issue for either is the old worn out windmill in the center of town. It's an eyesore, at least to Myra, and she wants it torn down. When it is used for something the townspeople will come to regret, they vote to tear it down. As I am a fan of the western genre, I enjoyed this story. It is recommended by this reviewer for anyone who wants a quick visit to the old west.
