You've covered all the bases regarding your wedding photography. Whether you're going for an amateur photographer, or a professional, you may think it's in the bag and there's nothing else to worry about. Right? Well, not exactly. Think about it. You're spending a small fortune on looking good...fabulous dress, beautiful hair, gorgeous make-up....you should come out looking like a super-model. The thing is, not even Beyonce can afford to rest on her laurels and assume that her beauty alone is enough to guarantee a great photo.

Celebrities learn how to pose in a way that makes them look stunning. It takes time to perfect their poses so don't fool yourself into thinking it's easy. You need to practice too (behind closed and locked doors!)

Follow these celebrity tricks for fabulous photos:
The hands on hips

This is Paris Hilton's signature pose. It's extremely flattering as it causes you to push your hips forward, pull your shoulders back and draws attention to your waistline. If your dress isn't full-length then you also need to pay attention to your feet. A coy crossing of your knees is a good way to thin down your bottom half, which makes you seem taller and thinner. Be careful not to stand with your feet too far apart though, as this will make you appear short and awkward.

The shoulders back, stand tall

This pose comes off as more natural than most other poses, and is a favourite of both Eva Mendes and Angelina Jolie. Hold your chin high and keep your shoulders held slightly back, but make sure they are relaxed. Remember to keep your hands held clasped at either at waist level, or slightly below your waist.

The over the shoulder

This is a great pose to draw attention to your butt, shoulders and back and is a much-used move by Renee Zellweger and Jenna Jameson. It's also a brilliant way to show off the back of your dress. The best way to carry out this pose is to push your shoulders slightly forward as you look back, rest your elbows on your hip and let your fingers trail down your thigh.

Also, remember the following:

Don't allow yourself to slump forwards...your breasts will droop and your tummy will bulge. Don't lean too obviously to the side - try to keep your pose balanced Do try and keep your chin lifted..but not too high or you'll end up with lovely photos of your nostrils Keep your head straight for most of your photos, but throw in a few flirty poses as well.
Practice really does make perfect, so go for it. It's worth the effort.

Maybe Beyonce is pregnant and she figures if she keeps posing like that eventually they'll only take head shots, thus taking attention away from her belly? lol

Before I get started, the articles by Wendy Davidson are great tips to follow. As for my opinion, it appears easy to pose for photos and maybe to some it is, but other have to learn or be taught. If the pictures will be for a once in a life time remembrance, I’d research books and magazines on how to pose for the camera. You can find information in many areas and let the photographer know exactly what you want. The extra efforts now just might mean much more to you in the future.

I would like to add a tip for picture-posing if you have a double chin (like me!). You do several different things all in one movement--it's not as hard as it sounds. Work it in a mirror until it looks natural.

Push your shoulders downward (but NOT forward) while elongating your neck. At the same time, tilt your head down just a little and shift your head just a little bit forward. "Just a little" is the key term for those last two things. If you do it too much, you'll look like you got caught mimicking a chicken pecking. LOL And you don't want to tilt your head TOO far down or you'll just look awkward, especially if others in the picture have their heads in natural, straight-ahead poses. If you do all these things, though, the photo will show your jaw line instead of your second chin's line. =)

"Hold your chin high," as one of the article tips suggested, just doesn't produce a flattering photo if you have a double chin or a fat neck. Holding your chin high conveys confidence, which in turn conveys attractiveness, but it's possible to be just as attractive while minimizing your double chin. So lower your chin a bit, chubby chicks! =)
