De Foundation heeft aangekondigd aan dat Wikimanía 2009 zal worden gehouden in Buenos Aires.

De Wikimedia Foundation hangt vooral af van de vrijgevige steun van onze gebruikers. Gelieve te overwegen om vandaag nog een gift te doen, in tijd, geld of hardware. De Wikimedia Foundation is in de Verenigde Staten ingeschreven als een 501(c)(3)-organisatie zonder winstoogmerk, en giften van burgers van de VS zijn belastingaftrekbaar. Toen het drie jaar geleden gesticht werd als een manier om te vermijden dat men dezelfde afbeelding op 200 verschillende wikis moet uploaden, begon Wikimedia Commons als een centrale mediaverzameling dat het leven gemakkelijker maakt voor Wikimedia-gebruikers. Sinds dan is het snel gegroeid tot een meertalige gemeenschap van fotografen, illustrators, scanners, audiobewerkers, vertalers, organisators en beschrijvers.

De Wikimedia Board of Trustees is de hoogste bedrijfsbevoegdheid in de Wikimedia Foundation Inc., en heeft de macht om de activiteiten van de Foundation te besturen. Het Foundation-reglement kan worden bekeken op de pagina Wikimedia Foundation-reglement. Ander beleid van het Board kunt u zien op de beleidspagina.

De Foundation beheert het budget, dat vooral wordt gebruikt voor computerapparatuur en hosting. Andere kosten houden werknemers in die nodig zijn om de Wikimedia-projecten te laten lopen, hoewel de meeste mensen vrijwilligers zijn. Deze site houdt een lijst in met notities van Board-vergaderingen.

Wikimania 2008 calls for participation
The Wikimania 2008 Organizing Committee is accepting submissions for presentations, workshops, panels, posters, open spaces, and artistic artifacts until March 16, 2008. Wikimedia Foundation releases latest financial statements
