Rate-In-Place

June 27, 2006

Mike Smullin’s Rate-In-Place widget provides an interface for the blog admin to rate blogroll links right on the front page. This is a nice way to bring back this little-used WordPress feature.

Wholinked

June 14, 2006

Who is linking to your blog? Knowing the answer can help you find out what people are saying about you. A new widget from Wholinked.com will display the latest incoming links on your blog's sidebar. It's simple and effective and because it's done in Javascript you don't have to worry about your server taking a performance hit.

Hosted OPML Blogroll

June 13, 2006

Got OPML? Chip's new widget is ten times cooler than any OPML importer because it displays your blogroll from a hosted OPML file instead of requiring you to upload every little change to WordPress.

It's maybe a little too cool for school, however. A quick look at the code shows that the blog will download the OPML each time a page is loaded. While that keeps the list extremely fresh, it can slow page loads and overwork the server. Hopefully Chip will update this with some caching code!

Drop-down Links

June 8, 2006

Links crowding up your sidebar? Reduce your links to a single drop-down form element with this Drop-down Links Widget.

King Links

May 12, 2006

Want to really customize your link widget? King Links lets you have multiple link widgets, each with something like 20 options.

RawSugar

May 3, 2006

RawSugar, a blog search engine and directory site with a notion of semantics, has its own companion widget to tie your WordPress blog in to the service. It works much like the RSS widget, showing links to sites you have recently tagged as favorites on RawSugar.

claimID

April 14, 2006

ClaimID is a service that lets you manage your online identity by claiming web resources that are definitely about you. Nutshell version: it's meant to prevent anyone from getting the wrong idea about you from googling your name. Their blog is powered by WordPress and they have created a widget for displaying your most recently claimed web resources.
