Preacher offers fast track to heaven
March 29, 2008 by John
The road to hell may be paved with good intentions, but the highway to heaven could come with a new set of wheels.
That’s Haslet preacher Ronnie Hill’s plan. He is offering people a chance to win a new Dodge truck, Jeep Wrangler or Chrysler 300 — provided they listen to his three-minute testimony about Jesus.
Those who watch Hill’s video at his recently created Web site — www.threeminutestory.com — can sign up online for the Dec. 12 drawing.
For 20 years, the traveling evangelist has preached at rodeos, NASCAR races and motorcycle rallies. He has offered many incentives to hear him out — among them a free chance to ride a mechanical bull.
“Then I thought, ‘Why don’t I just do one big prize that anybody anywhere can try for?’” said Hill, 39, a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
More than 8,000 people have visited his site, with about 1,400 entering the drawing. More than 250 have prayed to receive Christ, he said.
The Fort Worth law firm of Whitaker, Chalk, Swindle & Sawyer will oversee the drawing.
No prayer for salvation is required to enter, but Hill is hoping folks will say one.
“I’ve got people who say this is just a gimmick,” Hill said. “But I don’t care if people come for the car.
“I’m not going to back down.”

When the power of the Gospel isn’t good enough let’s entice them with worldly treasures. The visible church today evidences a complete lack of confidence and trust in the power of the Gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit to convict and regenerate lost souls through the Word of Christ.
Oh Father forgive us!
It does seem like some of those who are preachers these days are straying from the tried and proven Biblical methodology. We should expect it of them, because they are rejecting the power of God’s infallible Word. If you believe that God’s word is wrong on creation and history, then it is a short stop away from being wrong when it comes to salvation. Once they have rejected God’s word, then I believe that God has rejected them. There is no way to sugar coat the plan of salvation that will make it pallitible to people. We need to get back to preaching about sin and judgment.
