The Green Bible
http://adamjcopeland.com/ 2008/ 10/ 07/ the-green-bible/Today, Oct 7, HarperCollins released “The Green Bible.” According to Time’s David Van Bierma, the Bible is a Scripture for the Prius age that calls attention to more than 1,000 verses related to nature by printing them in a pleasant shade of forest green, much as red-letter editions of the Bible encrimson the words of Jesus.

How valuable is independence?
http://theupwardcall.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 10/ how-valuable-is-independence.htmlHow valuable is independence? On Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend some training for youth workers. The keynote speaker was the Vice-President of Baptist Bible College. This is not the first time I've heard him speak, and I was once again appreciative of his heart for young people and his heart for the gospel.

McKnight Questions McLaren
http://www.dennyburk.com/ ?p=2563Scot McKnight recently posted a fascinating article for Christianity Today about Emergent leader Brian McLaren. The whole article is worth the read, but one section in particular caught my attention. At the end of the article, McKnight raises some questions about McLaren’s theology, and the first

McKnight describes the theological trajectory of Emergents in this way: “Very few emergent folks I have encountered have any chance of returning to a robust, traditional evangelical faith.

Hovering Over the Face of the Deep: The Spirit in Creation
http://www.masstheology.com/ 2008/ 10/ 05/ hovering-over-the-face-of-the-deep-th…For all our debates about the nature and genre of the Creation stories in Genesis 1 and 2, I’m amazed by the lack of discussion surrounding the meaning of the Spirit’s activities in 1:2 where the text reads, “And the Spirit of God hovered over the face of the deep.” We’ve been so sidetracked by

it is not what you think
http://levite.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 10/ 05/ it-is-not-what-you-think/“If you read the Bible, it will mess with your theology.” Pastor Bill Lepley, Grabill Missionary Church September 28, 2008 That showed up early in the sermon last Sunday. Hope and I looked at each other. Hope and Nancy and I all wrote it down. Theology is, most simply, the study of God.

What I’ve been thinking about
http://jeffsdeepthoughts.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 10/ 05/ what-ive-been-thinking-abo…Yesterday, I posted about the fact that I’ve been going through a period where it’s felt really fruitfull to spend time in God’s word. (I think it just about always is fruitfull, but lately it’s also felt that way.) Today, I thought I’d be a bit more specific, both about how I’ve been reading and what I’ve been noticing as I read.
