http://newmexiken.com/ 2008/ 07/ 0014391.php“That boom echoing over ABQ was some sort of super-secret test at Sandia Labs. We can’t tell you what they’re blowing up, because they won’t tell us. It’s all a secret.†John Fleck Jeez John, I thought it was thunder (it being late July and all).

Letterboxing~Embudito Canyon~Albuquerque, NM
http://laughingorcaranch.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ letterboxingembudito-canyonalbu…With the goal of building up better strength and flexibility for health and for riding my beautiful painted horse, I've started walking and hiking again. And I'm very pleased that this journey can include the adventures of letterboxing, too. My favorite letterboxing partner is my one twin son, Jackson.
Bearings
http://newmexiken.com/ 2008/ 07/ 0014372.phpThis local TV news item bears notice: “This is the second sighting in just two days in the community, and it’s near the Sandia Heights area where officers set a trap after a bear was on one man’s property last week.†That would be NewMexiKen’s neighborhood.

Good News!
http://deborahparis-apaintinglife.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ good-news.htmlFor the last three years I have been invited to participate in the Albuquerque Museum of Art's annual Miniatures show . Each invited artist can exhibit 3 pieces that are no larger than 120 square inches each. Last year the Museum decided to add a new feature to the show and asked a small number of artists to exhibit larger scale works in addition to their smaller pieces.
Noises Off
http://passionofthedale.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ noises-off.htmlAs I sat on the deck looking for clouds in my coffee a few mornings ago, a small noise niggled at my eardrums. I couldn't quite place it (a baby? a bird?) and then it stopped, allowing a return to my regularly scheduled deep thinking.
Storm Drain Trash
http://planettrash.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 07/ 22/ storm-drain-trash/Yesterday in Albuquerque, we had an afternoon thunderstorm. Afterward on our way to dinner, we found this street-wide storm drain with lots of debris. This is one reason why we should not litter. Much of the trash enters the storm drain and makes it way (in this case) to the Rio Grande River which empties into the ocean eventually.
Landscaping at the House
http://www.noelgreen.com/ 2008/ 07/ landscaping-at-the-house.htmlThey started the landscaping last week here and have already fotten so much done! Today they were moving the dirt around out back. Cool stuff! Something else that’s cool… this is my first post from my iPhone.
Photo: Albuquerque Isotopes Mascot Orbit
http://busleagues.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 07/ 22/ photo-albuquerque-isotopes-mascot…I’m no stick-in-the-mud. I got a good laugh out of the guys at The Meaningful Collateral trying to gin up a sexual harassment controversy from this photo of the AAA Isotopes (Marlins) mascot Orbit. I have it on good authority that it’s hard to see out of those mascot heads.
