How "EOM" Makes Your Email More Efficient [Email]
http://lifehacker.com/ 5028808/ how-eom-makes-your-email-more-efficientYesterday, I sent a quick email to let people know what time I was arriving on site. It was something simple like: "Brad will be there at 9:30AM. Thanks! EOM". Within seconds a reply came back "What does EOM mean?" In my smartypants way I responded: "End of message. Used it to save you the time of opening the message and having to reply, which by virtue of you replying has defeated its purpose. Now that I am replying to your reply, it's defeated doubly so." Ultimately, my response was even worse because they thought it was so funny, they forwarded it to half the office.

EOM - Email just became IM
http://clibra.wordpress.com/2008/08/03/eom-email-just-became...Just passing on the link to an interesting article, courtesy of Lifehacker - EOM denotes “End of Messageâ€. By writing an email with the entire message in the subjected (followed by EOM), email gains a certain instant messaging quality. Read the article for all of the ideas and benefits. EOM
http://www.tinkerx.com/index.php/2008/07/30/eom/Good post at Lifehacker about using the “Subject†line as the entirety of an email message, and ending with <EOM> to signal “End Of Message.†I do this at work when the message is, really, one sentence long or less. Examples included (all names changed to protect me and my buddies): Frank is out sick today; no big deal, should be in tomorrow <EOM> I can drive up to four others for lunch today <EOM> Do you know what room we’re meeting in at 1pm? <EOM> If you know what the new printer name on the network is, please let me know <EOM> You get the point. Works really well, and I appreciate when others don’t bug me with a subject that is obfuscating, followed by a paragraph of text that is unnecessary. Get your EOM on.
eom.
http://thearcoftime.com/?p=904i have been receiving some good natured ribbing here at the office for passing along this lifehacker article on using EOM in a subject line of email. that being said, i am drowning in email these days and desperately looking for ways to be more effiecient with it. i am going to be giving the “EOM†idea a trial run. i’ll let you know. p.s. - i also realize, unlike a lot of the professional chatterers, that email has, as a whole, made everyone more efficient. it’s not a time waster in any way shape of form. it just could be better.

Engadget Fail
http://www.isthisstupid.com/articles/35/engadget-failFinally, something stupid on this slow weekend! Check out the most recent article from Engadget, hot off the presses. Apparently the auther read the LifeHacker post on how to use EOM to make email more efficient. Except they substituted "web article" for email and, um, forgot the whole part about using EOM in the subject. Way to fail, Engadget. Way. To. Fail.
