The Tablet School closes but the tutorials continue on All About Maemo

This page contained an embedded video. Click here to view it.

It has been a long, looooong time since the last tutorial on the Internet Tablet School, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

As the video above explains, a site called All About Maemo has asked me to carry on doing these tutorials for the new generation of Nokia's Maemo-based devices. The first of these new devices, the N900, is the direct successor to the internet tablets. It uses the same Maemo Linux operating system, but with a much slicker and more user-friendly interface, faster and more powerful hardware, and perhaps most significantly of all it is compatible with the mobile phone network.

Now, at this point something should be made very clear because some anti-cellular folks have misunderstood the situation:

Although it is being marketed as a phone, you can still buy an N900 separately without any contract, just like the original tablets. You don't need to get any kind of phone service to use the N900, it operates just fine without a cellular connection or SIM card. The option of a phone connection is now there for those who want it, but those who don't want it can just ignore it.

Anyway, if you are planning to get an N900 and want more Tablet School style step-by-step tutorials to help you with getting the most out of it, you will see them appearing on All About Maemo very soon.

You can follow AAM in four ways:

- Visit the AAM website at www.allaboutmaemo.com and add it to your web browser's bookmarks.

- Visit youtube.com/allaboutmaemo and subscribe.

- Visit twitter.com/allaboutmaemo and follow.

- Add the All About Maemo RSS news feed to your feed reader subscriptions.

See you there! ;-)

PS: Just to make clear, the Tablet School site will not be disappearing, but it will not be updated either. The videos and text will remain as they are now. The new N900 videos will be appearing on All About Maemo.
