Ben’s Pages

I’m Ben A’Lee, I’m a geek from north-east England living in south-west England. I’m (still) studying computing at the University of Plymouth, and currently (2008-09) undertaking an industrial placement in the Remote Sensing Group at Plymouth Marine Laboratory.

Various ways to contact me are listed on my contact page; I’ve also a page about some of my interests. There's also a FOAF file with various information about me.

Stuff

journal/ — my semi-regularly-updated “blogâ€; mostly full of political observations (rants), technical issues (rants), and occasionally personal stuff (boring). gallery/ — some of my photography. projects/ — projects I’m working on, or have worked on, or something.
projects/fyp/ — things related to my final-year project.
technotes/ hardware/ — my machines and notes on their hardware.

Elsewhere

I have accounts with various different sites, which may or may not (probably not) interest you:

Libre.fm (or Last.fm — deprecated). Flickr — deprecated in favour of my own gallery, and soon to be deleted. identi.ca (or twitter — deprecated). LinkedIn.

Other Sites

Some other sites that I’m involved with in some way.

TermiSoc, the University of Plymouth Computing Society. I was secretary 2004–05 and again 2006–08, technical officer 2005–08, and president 2008–09. If you’re at UoP and need access to a GNU/Linux machine for coursework, or for any other reason, drop them a line. Devon and Cornwall GNU/Linux User Group. I’m somewhat active on the mailing list, and go along to meetings when I can. plymouthgeeks is an attempt to get some regular geek-related (not necessarily GNU/Linux or Unix) events going on in Plymouth. The bloke who organises it is one of my housemates.
