bill maher is not afraid to speak out. his former show was ‘politically incorrect’ and this one is ‘real time’ in real time. we should all speak out- and realize that we should be leaving the truth for posterity. lord knows the majority of america won’t.  dusty and i were chatting about [...]

[Ann Althouse Wordle of the Second Debate]  Also,Wired -Threat Level’s story about Wordle and the party conventions is where my fascination with the idea began.
Senator Barack Obama should be in an excellent mood after a pretty good outcome to the candidates’ second debate.   Obama’s campaign for CHANGE has been marked by excellence almost from the beginning.  From announcing his [...]

I see it has been a while since I wrote anything for the blog. I’ve got some thoughts on my mind, so I guess I’ll air them out here. First of all, I’ll make one quick political statement, then leave that subject alone as it has the propensity to get me all stressed out. I [...]

O.J. Simpson: Justice Found (Or Call It Karma)

The saga of the O.J. Simpson murder case, which  began on June 12, 1994 came full circle on October 4, 2008, when a jury in Las Vegas, Nevada convicted Simpson, not of murder, but of robbery and kidnapping in a seeming unrelated case.  Readers will recall that Simpson was charged with the double murder of [...]

How many times did McCain say “My Friends” last night?

Twenty-four according to this from the LA Times. That includes the singular use of the word. From the LAT writeup:
It is the most pronounced verbal tic in modern American politics - John McCain’s incessant use of the phrase “my friends.”
For months, it has provided blog fodder. During the Republican National Convention, it spawned a truly [...]

BofA takes 8.4 Billion dollar hit on Countrywide loans.

October 7, 2008 by Dusty · 3 Comments

The Attorney Generals of 11 states, led by California’s Jerry Brown, have reached an agreement with BofA, owner of Countrywide Mortgage, over unfair and deceptive lending practices that will possibly benefit roughly 400,000 home owners Monday.
Of course BofA didn’t willingly reach this agreement to help homeowners. They were sued in those 11 states for Countrywide’s [...]

The House comes to the rescue

The House comes to the rescue

October 3, 2008 by Gee Carol · Leave a Comment

Just a short time ago the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Financial Markets bill, HR 1424.  The vote was 263-yes, and 171-no.
Democrats voted 172-yes and 63-no.  Republicans voted 91-yes and 108-no.
No longer termed a Wall Street bail-out bill, U.S. Representatives have just passed legislation that everyone hopes will rescue the U. S. economy.  When I [...]

Well, it looks like, with a little help from her handlers (and a trusty earpiece) Palin made it through last night’s debate without breaking down like a South Carolina beauty queen.  But, then again, I was enjoying Lemon Meringue Martinis, last night and following along on my Blackberry.  I’m sure I missed the really good [...]

Tonight is Palin’s big night!  The gawker in me is tempted to watch and play our typical speechification drinking games.  But, if I’m going to spend an evening listening to incoherent people, I’d have much more fun at a neighborhood bar.
Still keeping the Ten Post Round-Up simple, today.
Before you check out the debate, tonight, you [...]

Before we get to the meat, I offer you up the potatoes; proof that politics has gone to the dogs…
On with today’s round-up:
