"If you’re not on Twitter yet, then you might think it’s just a place for people to talk about what they had for dinner. Although there’s plenty of that going around on there, Twitter can also be a great tool for networking with other photographers and expanding your knowledge." - Mel Buckpitt

". Suddenly, instead of plain ordinary citizens entitled to sing "Poops, I did it again" or tape Brad Pitt's face in a toilet bowl onto a postcard to a friend, we are all professional artists required to Create Art from Scratch. Because we are no longer just having a conversation, in which we quote from everything we have seen and heard without any thought of Creation and Originality. Your piddling little blog is a Publishing Enterprise held to the same legal standards as Time Warner Inc, except that you do not have the funds to pay for any borrowings. You have been muzzled. This is why people are angry. Their normal modes of expression have been turned into a crime. They know they are only safe from prosecution because they are small fry - unless someone decides to make an example of you. " - Joelle Nebbe (iphigenie)

We challenge the need for formatting an article before acceptance. The assessment of the scientific value of a paper doesn't require meticulous formatting. Editors should be satisfied with a readable, generic submission. Authors would format the article after acceptance. This is a simple way to save time and unnecessary effort: We call upon journal editors and publishers to take action. - Neil Saunders
It's easy to say that "looking pretty" isn't important, but good presentation is a part of readability. "Looking terrible" can impair readability and scannability. Stephen Curry has a nice post on NN about problems with poorly formatted supplementary information http://bit.ly/EyZTm that is relevant here. - Frank Norman

Maybe somebody can explain Mesh to me, but I gave it another shot, and it seems broken. I added "My Pictures" (which only has maybe 5000 files, not my main repository), and connected another machine to it. Nothing at all happened. When I made a new folder, I think that replicated (?), but when I created a subfolder or file inside that, it didn't work. Some stuff showed up in the log, but not on the other side. No DSL traffic, either. - Michael Herf

Robert: I actually disagree. In fact FriendFeed can be an excellent spam filter for Twitter. Twitter's lack of Folders really is a major weakness where in FF we can better classify the follows in regards to Signal vs Noise (or Ham/Spam if you will). - manielse

"When the Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 get the Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade later this summer, it looks like they are getting a new version of TouchFLO 3D (Manila v2.5) that stretches the interface a bit deeper and makes it more customizable than seen on the current iteration. If not on the Diamond2 and Touch Pro2, we'll likely see Manila v2.5 on the upcoming Firestone." - LANjackal
Is that logo the same as the gnome project? http://www.gnome.org/ - John Cooper
@John: Similar, but not the same: the outline of the foot goes the other way and the toes are shaped differently. There are quite a few apps out there that use footprint logos (GOM Player, for example), so I don't think it's a big deal especially since this isn't exactly a competing product. Evernote & Ubernote, who go head to head, both use elephants as their logos and neither seems ready to go to court over it anytime soon so *shrugs* - LANjackal
