Howdy, I’m Paul. I am a 22 year old student hailing from Houston, Texas. For the past 4 years I have been in Atlanta working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Computational Media at Georgia Tech.
Technology is my passion. I started with hardware when I was young, designing and building small circuits for fun. I progressed to building, modifying and overclocking computers. Around the time that I moved into college I started realizing the power of the web and turned my interests towards the Internet and web applications that connect people.
I started this blog in 2005 to share my knowledge of technology with others and learn from readers. PaulStamatiou.com has grown substantially since its humble beginnings as a small blog hosted on a Mac Mini in Georgia Tech’s Woodruff dorms. This blog focuses on technology that interests me personally and generally focuses on reviews, tutorials and editorials about whatever is bouncing around in my mind at the moment. In the last three years, I have done some interesting things…
I read YCombinator Hacker News daily and am a startup advocate. I plan on working on Skribit full-time after I graduate in December. I am a Mac user and before that I had become accustomed to Gentoo Linux. While I don’t consider myself a programmer, designer or sysadmin, I know my way around a terminal and know a thing or two about PHP, Ruby, MySQL, CSS/XHTML, product management, UX and UI design.

I am Greek and hold dual citizenship in Greece and the US. My last name is pronounced Stam-uh-tee-you. Whenever I am in Greece, I can speak enough Greek to find the nearest Internet cafe.
Personal Tech
Believe it or not, my primary computer is the slowest notebook offered by Apple, the MacBook Air. Despite its issues, I love it and take it everywhere. When I’m at home in my apartment, the Air is paired to a fiber Internet connection capable of 80 megabits/sec down and 37 megabits/sec up.

PaulStamatiou.com has been hosted on a (mt) (dv) server for as long as I can remember. The blog uses WordPress via SVN and a custom theme I have created, which is not for distribution. However, I have released a similar theme called 281.
