I’ll be leaving this one up as archives, but closing down comments tomorrow.
Please go to the new Pandagon at http://pandagon.net/.
Here’s a new post at the new site asking for feedback on the redesign.

I seem to not get…anything…at that URL, or from the links. just a random set of ads.
i is confused.
“I seem to not get…anything…at that URL, or from the links. just a random set of ads.”
The birthing pains of a new age…
I can haz Pandagon?…
I’m just getting the ISP’s placeholder site (a page of AdSense ads). Some switch needs to be thrown somewhere…
oh my god, if there’s no pandagon, i’ll have to WORK.
epic fail!
Is this a joke? Or a problem?
I just get a list of ads for panda-related things of various kinds.
panda…gone?
I was able to get in briefly, then when I went back, I got the ads.
omgz. the bug is a FEATURE!!1!!1!
try scrolling down. The ads were all clustering at the top for me so I had to get past them to get the site.
I left this comment on the new site, but it didn’t appear. Using Internet Explorer 6.0, with the font size set to medium, the article content and Pandagon header were pushed down to below the last item on the inboard sidebar. It’s just majorly bad using IE 6.0. (I have no criticisms of the color scheme or design, just how the layout is working.)
And will the existing articles transfer over, or are they dead meat?
Ads placeholder, no blog.
Dunkin Donuts Jihad color scheme! Like a VIPs or a Perkins Cake and Steak ca 1978.
Oh yeah … that’s retro now.
nada, still. WTF? I squished the font size, readjusted window and everything…still just ads placeholder. Fine, fine, I’ll do work.
I had the same experience as Dana, also IE 6.0
I too am seeing text ads for pandas. Which is nice, since I was in the market for a panda.
“Which is nice, since I was in the market for a panda.”
Does anyone know if there’s a PandaFax where you can learn about the history of a panda you’re thinking of buying? It’d be a real shame to spend a lot of money and get ripped off…
Some people will have a day or two wait while the links work their way through the internet. I have no idea how to speed that up. It’s just how your computer is linking it.

what an oddly spatial mental image i now have of the internets.
and what a relief! i can handle a pandagon vacation, but not a vanishing.
I am getting the blog, but I’m wondering if the ad bar is supposed to be on the left-hand side with blogroll.
I’m getting the blog, but the sidebars push the text well down the page, and since the second sidebar continues past the Pandagon header the left-hand side of each posting shows up as black type on a dark brown background, which isn’t the most readable combination.
On a semi-related note, maybe some blog designers can answer me this: why do the majority of websites place sidebars on the left? When I print something from a website, I often have to change select a landscape print orientation, or else the main body text will get cut off at the right margin. In addition, the combination of websites with fixed column widths, my preference for bookmarks displayed alongside the browser window, and a cheap employer who only springs for a small monitor means that I need to scroll sideways on some websites just to read the main text. Neither of these things would be a problem (or at least much less of one) if the sidebars were on the right.
It’s not working for me yet either.
If you tried to visit pandagon.net before the root nameservers registered the change (it’s hosted by ns1/ns2.slicedbreadtwo.com, according to WHOIS), your local nameserver will cache the old authoritative nameservers (ns1/2/3/4.nameresolve.net) for a maximum of those records’ TTL, which is 1800 seconds (a half-hour). Of course, not everyone’s DNS cache is so kindly, but if things work as they’re supposed to, your local cache will time out and will query a root server. As (for instance) a.gtld-servers.net is reporting the proper nameservers, I should suppose that it should be just about done at this point.
In the meantime, you can go to http://209.200.252.213 which will kinda work (the stylesheets won’t load) until your local ISP gets the memo.
Huh. It’s not often that my day job comes in handy.
For extra fun, if you’re on a Linux-type system, you can run something like “watch dig pandagon.net” and see the TTL count down until the new records are fetched.
Still getting the ads…I miss the Pandagon…
… and something’s amiss, though I’m not sure where; the DNS change apparently hasn’t propagated. [a-l].gtld-servers.net report the domain properly, but my ISP is still flopping. Oh, well. It’d be too much to ask for for these things to go smoothly, anyway.
Sucks…
I was able to access it (and comment) from my Mac at work using Firefox, but not from my Mac at home using Firefox. Weird.
I use IE with a smallish window size, and
a) it does not adapt to window size, I have to scroll sideways
b) the text and images are below everything else
c) the text bloc is transparent over the red and brown columns — hard to read.
d) the text bloc does fit itself at all with window size.
So, eh… needs improving?
Something isn’t working, or am I the only one who can’t get to the new site?
There’s still very spotty connectivity.
Now I’m back at work, and I can get to the new site even though I couldn’t from home an hour ago using the same operating system and the same browser.
Curiouser and curiouser.
Whatever DNS voodoo is going on … I really hope it clears up soon!
Back at home, was able to comment on the new site all day at work and now …. it’s gone again.
Though the site I land on is really making me want to buy a panda. The fines can’t be that high for keeping an endangered species in your apartment, right?
May 30 and the DNS is still screwed up. Had no problem reaching the site yesterday morning, but today it’s back to the placeholder.
Whoo-hoo — I can finally get to the new site from home!
Thank you, code monkeys!
I got the new site fine yesterday, this morning - Nothing, timed out, can’t find…..
Hum, last night and this morning, the new site is just the yellow back. Nothing avtually there. Is it you folks, or is it my larents’ computer/internet doing something funny?
Still getting the page of adsense ads and yes, I’ve cleared my cache a few times.
It’s not just yours rowmyboat. That’s what I’ve been getting for about a week now.
