The Big Announcement

http://flickr.com/photos/noelzialee/437615556/

Ah, the sakura (cherry) blossoms… so beautiful, so fragile, so… fleeting.

Okay, I’ve left you faithful readers in suspense for long enough. Time to spill the beans.

If you’ve been reading Monk at Work for any length of time, you know I’ve been going through a soul-search for the past few months, evaluating my direction, my values, my passions, etc. And the long and short of it is that Monk at Work is over.

I know, I know…

I know that many of you love the Monk. And some of you have just subscribed. But as Seth Godin says,

Ignore people like me who scream and yell about how much they love it and how much potential there is. If you’re not improving, if the yield is negative… kill it.

To tell you the truth, I dig the Monk at Work message. I think it’s relevant and useful and needed by more people than I can ever reach. At the same time, I have passions and interests that fall far outside the scope of what Monk at Work can deliver, and as anyone who knows me knows, I’m not good at living with any kind of split. I’m an all-or-nothing guy, to the core.

And the truth of it is, Monk at Work hasn’t been solvent, plain and simple. I’ve been studying, though; asking, learning, watching, and growing, and my hope is that my new direction (which will encompass Monk at Work’s message, and more), will become something that provides much more value to you, and allows me to serve in much greater ways.

So here’s where we go from here:

While Monk at Work is over, the spirit will live on. I’ve created a new venue for my voice, one that I believe has the room to grow with my evolving nature. I’ll continue to talk about matters of the spirit and how they apply to work and life. I’ll also continue to develop and evolve my ideas around intuition, healing, and productivity (in fact, I’ve started a series there that will help you with managing all the bits and bytes of your life, called "Surfing the Digital Tidal Wave"), and all the things that made Monk at Work special.

And, at the same time, I’ll also speak about other subjects that fascinate, thrill, educate, and enlighten, all for the purpose of living the most exceptional, "literate" life possible. In fact, the new site is called, "Viverati"; meant to call forth the idea of "literacy in that which is vital in life."

So if you like what you’ve been getting from me as "the Monk", you’re going to love what you’ll get from me "uncensored." ;-)

If you’re a Monk at Work subscriber…

If you subscribe to the weekly newsletter, you don’t have to do a thing: you’ll continue to get weekly updates about new articles, as always (and even more consistently).

If you subscribe via RSS (via a reader or email), it’s simple: click here. For the next 30 days, the m@w feed will be transferred to Viverati, and after that, it’ll disappear. The last thing I want to do is lose anyone, so please click the new feed address to sign up there.

Bigger, better, and brighter

That’s the idea with Viverati. It’s what made Monk at Work special, and then some. It’s the flowering evolution of my own personal sakura, and I hope that, as I do, you will find more joy, expansiveness, and value there as it grows.

Above all, I hope you become a part of it; a part of the community of people who want to live life to its fullest, and realize that many times, you have to shed the status quo to get there.

Thank you all, and I’ll see you at Viverati!

Hi Adam,

Sorry to see you close the books on the Monk, but am glad to see that your message is going to live on!

I really dug your way with words and the ideas behind the path you’ve been treading, and what you’ve been sharing with us. I am enjoying reading through your posts on Viverati, have subscribed and Stumbled you.

Keep up the great work! Lee

Adam, are you still going to run your June 26 phone seminar? I paid and registered for that months ago. Gayle

Hi Gayle,

Yes, that’s definitely on - and I’ll be talking much more about it on Viverati as the time gets closer. Thanks for asking.

Good luck with your new venture Adam. I love the way you’re willing to follow your own instinct and intuition - inspiration for us all there :-)
By the way, as you’ve been busy you might have missed this, but I thought you might be interested in where some of our conversations took me…

Wow, Adam, there must be a tidal wave of change rolling through the blogosphere this month.

I for one am very excited to follow you to your new project. (And glad to have found you on StumbleUpon too.)

Sending you lots of thumbs-up, fists-in-the-air, hell-yeahs, etc — feeling you and wishing you all the best.

Adam,

Great to see you take such a leap! I’ll be following you into your new home. I subscribed to the person, not the URL, you know.

Joanna, thanks. Following my instincts and intuition, luckily, is something that comes easily to me… it’s listening to cold, hard common sense that’s sometimes a challenge! :-)
And how great that you reviewed The Sufi Book of Life! It’s a fantastic book, isn’t it? Great review, too (follow that tinyurl, everyone!)

Slade, thanks for the vote of confidence; I’ll take all the hoo-rahs I can get!

Vitor, thanks so much. You bring up a great point… one that I’m planning a Viverati post for. Now, thanks to you, I’ve got a quote for it.

Awesome, I am looking forward to the seminar.

I’ve already grabbed my RSS feed for Viverati and was surprise to find 11 postings! You’ve been busy over there. Sneaky Monk!! :)

Glad to see you’re changing your vehicle but your message will still be available.

Look forward to exploring Viverati…. gayle

Gotta admit… I’m going to miss the cute Monk illustrations. :)

Adam, I saw the comment over on Slades and rushed on over to your new site. I’ll be one of the first to subscribe! Congratulations. I’ve had 6 different blogs over the last 18 months. It is a lot of work, but I’ve found each leads to the next goes deeper. Here’s hoping your new venture leads you closer to yourself

Thanks, Gayle… I take “sneaky monk” as a compliment. :-) And yes, you pegged it: the vehicle has changed, but the message still resounds.

And, you never know about those cute little monks… they might show up when you least expect it.

Michelle, wow, six? You’ve been the busy beaver, eh?

My plan for Viverati is that it has room to grow along with my interests, so it’ll be something that will be around for a long time.

But, as James Bond said, “Never say never!”

Hi, Adam,

Now that M@W is closed and Viverati open, will the posts on M@W disappear? Or will this lovely old site stay open and available for browsing?

Hi Anne, Monk at Work will stay as it is, at least for now. I don’t have any plans to close it down… but if I do, I’ll announce it on Viverati first.

I did migrate a few posts over, but for the most part, the old ones are still here. Thanks for asking!

Hi Adam!
I just came across a post you did from October about passion, that I am sharing with my readers!

Sounds like you have a lot of new things going on!

Best Wishes
Derrick Chicago
