So, I’ve been a user of Sportstracker for a bit now…Â
Over 500 Miles… and I’ve been having a good time with it…Â
It’s a GPS app that people can use when running or biking… but since I drive a lot, I use it to track my trips. Â When used with a phone that has music capabilities, It shows where on the map I was, and what track I was listening to! Â I can even upload pictures and they will be geotagged as well!
Â
This brings me to my next app, it’s called NokiaVine
which is still in beta, but I believe It’s going to be very similar, but I think it’s going to be more social in aspect. I cannot wait to try it out, and see how they market it to others…

There’s a company out there that I think everyone should look into… I’ve been telling my “analog” friends, but I really need to shout it out here as well!
- Spinvox
James Whatley aka Whatleydude
Has been doing a great job blogging for Spinvox
Â
Just to get things started, I’ve been using Spinvox Memo for months now, and have found that when I  am driving I can just call a number (which is issued to me, that I’ve assigned a speed dial for) and speak my memo which is converted to an email for me that I can go back to and read later…
Lately I’ve been using Spinvox Voicemail… And it’s changed me…
I’ve been doing work for an A/V company, working in high end houses and apartments and usually there are a lot of other workers around which causes a lot of noise in the backround. Â I cannot alwayt afford to walk away to take a call, even if I could drop what I am doing, like a TV or bundle of wire…
Enter Spinvox Voicemail!  I can still get the voicemails, but in the mean time, I get a text, which I can quickly view and take action…  And, If I need to hear an actual message, I get a Quick-Linkâ„¢ code which I enter when I call the voicemail number.
Before, All my messages were diverted to my networks system, which left the messages in cue…Â I don’t know about you, but i’ve got some messages I hold on to, and when I get a new message, I have to go through them all, which takes time… all for a message that I could’ve gotten in a text… Spinvox converts it for me!
It’s not completely available yet, as seen here…
But in the United States we can Sign up to get 40 messages per month for 9.99 through UReach.com
I think it’s kind of steep but but the more people see, and use, and want others to see and want to use, it can and will be implimented and hopefully picked up by the major carriers and made cheaper or better yet, FREE!
I can remember a time using a cell phone before voicemail… (I know, I’m old… but really)
This is the next wave!
Go to the site and give it a try…
The technology has been here, and is ever evolving!
Read about how D2 does it! and makes our lives that much easier and better!
Go there, get a free  trial, see for yourself!  come back here and let me know what you think, or just let them know!
Taking back the negatives… My opinion has swayed… I like it…
August 31, 2008 at 1:10 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsSo, I’ve now had the E71 for 3 weeks (It’s time to go back, but It’s a holiday weekend… AND I’m away… You didn’t want me to NOT take it out here did you? I’m mailing it back as soon as I return!)
So… driving South on I95, from NY towards NC we were able to get 3G for most of the way… Most, that is, until I commented about how cool it was that we were getting 3G all the way so far… About then was where it cut out… Not the phone’s fault… But it’s nice to see that that the network is finally catching up…
I’ve gotten so many looks (at the phone…), and, I’ve looked up so many things with the phone…
The Qwerty keyboard with auto complete makes life so easy to use, (when not driving that is…) and the ease of having it just happen… This phone is very easy to slide out of the pocket, and once it’s out, there’s so much control of content in such a small sleek and sexy unit…
Reviewing a Nokia E series device for the first time was kind of difficult for me, being that I’ve been using only N series devices, and don’t know anyone else using Nokia except for those who I’ve converted ![]()
So, trying to get to see and use an E Series unit was a chore… I’m glad that I got a chance to try this one out, although I’ve not really seen much of a difference, between N and E series…
Well, some differences…
This phone has been really stable for me, given that I tend to ‘out think’ most N series phones, and they freeze a lot! If you’ve followed my rants…
I have also noticed that in the office folder, there is the consolidation of ‘office’ type stuff, file manager, converter, active notes, notes, dictionary, intranet, adobe… I’d really like to say that they’ve helped me, but I don’t need them… and I didn’t use them, just the calendar and calculator…
I did have one problem, and it’s a side note actually… but it leads into a strong point…
Build!
The included strap, (a nice leather one…)
Well, it frayed…
And, as I was getting it out of my pocket, it went… I noticed the fray before, and was being gentle, but still, as it came out, it went up, then down…
There’s some scuffing on the outside case… It’s not that bad really, considering the ride it took… But, Being that the case is made of metal it’s really not that bad, if it were plastic, it would’ve been really gouged or broken…
I’m really glad that I’ve been changing the screen protector and babying this phone only to have this happen… super!
I do believe, that most any other phone would’ve been jarred if not screwed… The battery would’ve been knocked out completely… the corner would’ve probably cracked… yada yada… we’ve all had or heard of something traumatic happen to a phone… Not this phone!
I thought about the battery door, and how much of a pain it was to remove, due to the side buttons needing to be pressed at the same time, which I guess also decreases the likelihood of the battery cover and battery falling off if dropped…
This phone is designed for a hit… if not on purpose, then by accident… Even the lose parts are secured… I’ve compared the feel of this phone against 3 different blackberry’s… And, in my opinion, if any of those Blackberrys were to take the same fall, the scratches would’ve gone really deep, and the hit alone might’ve messed them up… they just feel too plasticky…
Very strong design on the E71
Very stable software,
I am disappointed that there is no Blackberry connect, because everyone I know that uses Blackberry, that I tried to show this phone off to, was concerned with BBC… I’m not familiar with it, but apparently, Nokia used to offer handsets that had BBC support on it, but not any more…
Too bad…
I would reconmend this phone to any of my friends or family, price is really good, functions are very good, stable, easy to use, increases productivity… great graffics for games…
I would also have to point out to those friends and family that… the camera sucks in daylight, and is absolutely useless at night… and it doesn’t have BBC (not that that would be a selling point to begin with…) Oh, and lest we forget the 2.5mm headphone jack… (Normal is 3.5mm… So you’re gonna need an adapter…)
from the Carl Zeiss lenses that I’ve seen i think that there would be a problem in trying to get a nice lens into a slim case like the E71, so, given that a business person would be using all the features of the phone, and might want to snap a picture of something, it’s pretty good… the video quality was pretty good though…
an adapter is like $10 for the headphone jack… and BBC sounds like NexTel Direct Connect for the 21st century… but that could just be me…
I think that along with straps, it would be nice to see phone manufacturers provide at least one clear gel case included with the phone, as well as a strap to protect the case…
The E71 does come with a strap and a really nice leather pouch, but the pouch does not have it’s own strap. am I being to picky?
Great phone, go read more reviews to get more advice, I, as an ex NorMob have to say it’s a nice phone… but maybe too much for you… It was too much for me… But, at the price, I wouldn’t mind having this phone in the arsenal…
2 weeks playing with the E71 and I am impressed!

First off…
I’m kinda new here, to the whole blogging my experiences for the world to read…
and having people actually read what I write…
So, after I write something, I re-read it and I realize later that I woulda, shoulda, coulda…
put this, added that, moved that…
I need to get better at this, and you’re helping with your comments! Keep it up!
I’ve had my Gf and others come here to check up on what I’ve been up to, and the one thing that has come from them all, is that I tend to start conversations mid sentence, assuming everyone knows what I’m talking about…
And you, my one trusty reader, you have somehow kept holding on…
OK…
Here is a brief run down… as I try to give better stories!
2 weeks ago I received a Nokia E71 from WOM World / Nokia
It was my first experience with a Nokia E Series phone.
The E series is Nokia’s Enterprise series… Business line, (sorta like a BlackBerry… Only better)
OK, so everyone was talking about this phone… I had to see it… I wanted to try…
It came… I used it… I’m still using it… It’s amazing…
It’s just, that…
um…
I’m not a business person…
Don’t get me wrong, this phone is AMAZING, it’s got so much inside, and so much you can do with it!
it’s just too much in the wrong direction for me…
although…
The GPS seemed really fast compared to other phones (but I haven’t had any other phones in hand to compare to
)
The speaker at the top did not seem to be designed as a music phone but it did play very loud and did the job… I listen to a lot of music and will need something designed as such…
The camera isn’t good for taking shots at night, I go out a lot… like A real Lot… and I need something more then that…
The screen size is perfect…
The ability to switch modes from work to personal, really neat! you can have apps you need for work, and switch to the other for home… the whole standby screen changes!
the Qwerty keyboard was amazingly fast to learn, I was back to texting while driving parked the same day!
The added static buttons for home, calendar, contacts and messages freed up a lot of space on my standby screen as well, shortening my need for searching through my menu…
I really like this phone a lot, and I think that any of my friends, (or strangers who hopefully stumble to my blog,) who are looking into getting a business phone, like a BlackBerry, (which I see as the NexTel craze of the late 90’s) you should do yourself a favor… Go find this phone… There’s the Nokia Flagship Store in 57th street in Manhattan, and one in Chicago and LA I believe… Get this phone in your hand… this is a serious phone!
If you’re serious about your business, and need a phone that can do it all, I suggest you try this one out!
This phone was and still is great! I’ve got one more week with it, and this will be the test…
I’m going to be going on vacation, and will only have my N73, my N800 and this E71… (I’ll of course have my XM and clean clothes as well, but you’re not concerned about that… you’re concerned about how I am going to post to wordpress? to Jaiku, get my Gmail? reply to IM’s… and such…
Let me worry about that ![]()
The only sad thing is that I will be using my N73 as my camera ![]()
Go check this phone out… read the reviews…
this is just too much a work phone for me in some ways, and not enough play…
I wish I could have the N82 in a NAM…
maybe with a slide-out Qwerty in it wouldn’t be bad either ![]()
anyone else want this too?
Getting packed for my vacation…
I’ll keep you posted!
you keep me posted!

E-71-2 First time user of an E-Series… Days 2 and 3 (First weekend)
August 12, 2008 at 12:15 pm | In = FAIL, Business, Cell Phone Review, Errors, Nokia, RANT, SUPER RANT, Technology | 1 CommentTags: Camera Phone, Cell Phone Review, E71, RANT
Hi, so I trust everyone had a good weekend… The Olympics are starting, I’m not a follower… but I hope that it goes well!
Ok, back to why you’re here, and not for my world knowledge on countries sports teams!
This was my first weekend with the E71… Nokia’s newest Enterprise series… Business phone…
I am really starting to run it through my own independent tests…
First, I had to take my car apart from the deer that I hit…
then I had to go help get my GF’s apartment set for them to move in on Sunday, which never happened…
In the cleanup, a carpet was removed, which left a nasty floor!
The Landlord said just paint it… So, with deck paint on rollers it was done… Here is the finished product…
I tried for the same view with my Gf’s Canon PowerShot SD600 and the E71-2
What’s that you say?
Poor picture quality?
Here is my rant… I was just starting to like you, E71!
What in the world would you call that?
A Photograph?
CRAP!
That is not at all what I would want to show someone!
I’m sorry… But I prefer the 3.2 Mp Carl Zeiss camera on my N73!
This was sad… everything was going so well!
All the other features (except the 2.5mm headphone jack) had me sold!
But I guess I’m back to looking…
The camera on a camera phone is necessary in this day in age!
So a good camera is a must… and a crappy camera is a deal breaker
When I had the N82 I loved it!
I take a lot of pictures, (not a crazy amount that I need a camera on hand,) but I see stuff that I’d like to photograph… and I need to send to people
Take for instance that I was driving my mothers car (since mine was in pieces until I fixed it)
Well…
Her exhaust fell off… on the highway…
I walked about 100′ in front and 100′ behind and retrieved some spare parts that had fallen off passing cars over time, and…
I Macgyvered something together, enough to get home…
Well…
Frustrated with the events of the day, and the fact that this camera phone… In broad daylight, had turned my mothers gray interior, violet, I forgot to take a completed picture!
How do I document my day?
The only problem I had with the N82…
The sole reason I hold out on purchasing an N82?
Lack of US3G!
That’s it!!!
I carried around the N95-4 as my phone, and the N82 as my camera at night…
The sole reason I hold out on purchasing an N95-4?
Lack of a decent flash!
But the E71… I know, I know… It’s an Enterprise phone, business model if you will… I shouldn’t expect too much…
Like, if you had to take a picture of a product to send to a client and make him think that whatever you’re selling is violet colored… This is the phone for you!
If I really don’t want to lose the sale, and must keep the customer thinking you take the product you are selling serious!
Serious enough that you want to at least represent it properly you should think about another camera phone…
or a real camera…(like a Canon PowerShot SD600)
you might as well take a picture, then upload it, and email it to them, which will take time…
Which… incidentally is the reason this post has taken so long to upload…Â The battery on the camera was dead… and I couldn’t find the charger… so uploading all the camera photos to Ovi.com took forever,
and thus I’m into my 4th day of using the phone…
Which isn’t going much better or worse… I’m getting more used to it…
I think I’ll write my next review at the end of the week, which would be a full week with it… or when something else drives me crazy…
The keys… beautiful… I’ve totally gotten used to typing when driving… er, using the phone, and find it to be very comfortable…
See you soon…

E-71-2 First time user of an E-Series… Day 1
August 8, 2008 at 3:20 am | In Cell Phone Review, Day 1, E-Series, Form vs. Function, Nokia, Practical?, Technology, Wom World/Nokia, Word of Mouth | No CommentsTags: Converting to Qwerty, Day 1, E-71-2, Review
So… I’ve managed to make it this far without ever using a Qwerty device… Sure I’ve held a blackberry and moved the Nav-Ball around, but nothing on the menu caught my attention…
So… the Nokia E-71 comes out in a European and a NAM edition… And everyone everywhere is talking about how wonderful this phone is…
Everyone seems to now own one, AND LOVE IT… Every other post on Jaiku has been E-71 this… or E-71 that…
I HAD TO GET ONE!
I had to at least try one…
The price seems too good to be true… Rumors going around on Jaiku of $399 on Buy.com
I’ve been going to NYC a bit lately, but mostly staying up north of Harlem, and getting a good parking spot on 57th for the Flagship Store is near impossible…
WOM World/Nokia to the rescue!
I am not going to bore you with crappy pictures or video taken with my N73, of me, unboxing anything if I can help it… You’ve seen the E71 online or in person… you’ve seen enough unboxings…
It’s a box…
It holds something,
usually what is depected on the outside of the box…
What you do next is up to you…
You come to a box, you open the box… There’s something inside, do you:
a. Close the box?
b. Drop the box?
c. Eat the contents?
d. Take the phone out and insert the battery and plug it into the wall.
Ok…
yada yada, sync from my phone… pause… switch sim’s… turn on and go…
go to google.com get mail, maps, and search…
(Search is another issue… every time I attempt to open search, i get a freeze, then a restart…I’ll talk more about that Later…)
palringo is necessary, as is jaiku… So I download both…
I am happy…
I tried out mobbler, just for a short bit… Seems cool… I’m happy!
i will play more when not so exhausted!
So my main concerns, getting used to the qwerty keyboard…
Seems ok thus far…I’ve got typing down…
Innitial thoughts on looks: Sexy, slim, like really really slim…makes the iPhone look fat!
nice sized screen, raised, rounded buttons, very easy to use D-Pad…
practicality: for me? none,
I am a T9 user… I like the qwerty, but I’m still T9, I just had to see what the fuss was… I can’t wait to show it off to my blackberry friends!
Headphone jack being 2.5mm… Not cool i don’t like using their headphones, but I’m forced to now… since the standard is 3.5mm
I don’t hate it, I’m just not converted on the first day… We’ll see…
but this is only day 1
I look forward to putting this phone through the paces… I’ve had one restart earlier when scrolling through my phone book, and 3after that trying to open Google Search… More to follow…
Now that I’ve gotten hooked… How to get my fix?
July 17, 2008 at 11:46 am | In Errors, Marketing, NEED, Nokia, RANT, SUPER RANT, Technology, Word of Mouth | No CommentsTags: Cell Phone, Lost, Mobile Phone, NYC, Photography, Withdrawl
K, so…
I was in the city last night, had to be midtown… I live about an hour drive from Manhattan… and I parked my car near a friends, 181st and RAN! to catch the A train, so that I could attend a function last night all the way down to Hells Kitchen…
I was late… (anyone that knows me, knows this is nothing new…Â I’ve been working on it though…) it was a 6:30pm, (please be there 15 min early kind…)I got there AT 6:30PM…
Regardless…
It was in a neighborhood where I had seen frequently as a child, as my father worked in the garment district… I’d passed this specific spot so many times in my life… and always wondered what was inside…
and that’s where it was…
It was like going to Wonka World!
K… Fast-Forward… I get out of this thing, and I have to figure out if I’m going alone to see my GF’s Step Father in the hospital, or if she’s meeting me there, or down here, or on the east side if I go to see my friends band the Jaik Miller Band… (His name is Jaik, and yes, that’s only one of a few shameless plugs! Check them out!)
I’m walking around Hells Kitchen, and trying to get a fix on everything… Passed my father’s old building, and wanted to take a really good picture of it to send to him.
About then, it hit me…
I’d been aware that I was using my old phone, the N73, but standing there, in the big city, without all of the things I’d recently grown accustomed to, like a really really good camera, (like found on the N95 or N82…) GPS to let me track where I WAS, to where I WANTED to be, (which really was a detour to see my friends’ band on the east side… and then the hospital) Music! That’s what I needed, but the headphone jack for this phone is the older style, not the 3.5mm type… so I didn’t have it…
I’m whining…
But seriously…
I had a better phone last night, using the N73, then most of the people passing by me in that moment, yet I felt like I had nothing!
Naked in a cold world of wolves and…
Ok, maybe not that bad, but still, I’d become so used to EVERYTHING that was available now on a select few phones, and yet everyone else is happy that they can Touch, or Slide…
it’s not about the case, the casing, or the shell people!
That’s just a vessel to get scratched, and dented, and changed out… it’s protecting what’s INSIDE!
I don’t know when people will get it…
It’s literally thinking INSIDE the phone, that’s Thinking Outside the box…
With the N82, I could have mapped my trip to and fro, listened to music the whole time, taken a good picture of my father’s old building (that he no longer worked at since retiring after his heart attack almost 8 years ago…(He’s better now, thanks) ) If I had the N95-4 US3G I could’ve been talking on the phone while browsing the internet on 3G (which also shows 3.5G in Manhattan!) For fun, I know it’s not a NEED, but I had so much time to kill, I could’ve made Position Art
I did have a 3.2 mp camera, I did have music, (but not the right headphone jack…) I did have Google Maps and Nokia maps, (but no actual GPS,) I did have Jaiku, GMail, Fring and widsets to play with…
which is more then anyone else…
So I shouldn’t be complaining…
BUT IT”S MY BLOG! And I WAS THE ONE SUFFERING!
I need a new phone… and this last loan has convinced me of just how lost I am…
I need a flash, I need US3G, I need GPS, I need A decent sized screen, or at least one that shows a lot of detail… (Did you know that the smaller screen on the N82, has more pixels then the much larger Iphone screen?
N82-
iPhone-
Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against the iPhone, I think it’s great, it will get more people to understand how much better life is to be connected, I just think it’s a little bit of trying to feed a child, and I’m not a child anymore… I’m not a Phone Geek, but I think I do understand a bit more about mobile technology then my neighbors, I don’t know what makes it work, but I know how to use it…
So that’s leaving me with the N78, which I’m not sure I could get used to the buttons on… I Text A Lot!
I’d love the N82 in US3G. I’d love to try the N96, and maybe see if that double LED can meet my needs for a flash… hint hint
I’d love to be able to see what’s next…
I use my phone, A LOT, and people see me using my phone, people always want to see what’s new, and how to use it… most of the new devices i’ve been using have been what’ve helped to get me out of the house, and off my PC for the most part… (I’m in my pj’s at the time of this writing, I type soooo much faster on a real keyboard, but I can… do it in T9… so don’t test me…
Ok, Need a phone… Need a Job, then a phone… well first I need to pay bills, then I can get a phone…
Oh… everyone needs to wake up and realize that it’s function over form!!!
Withdrawl… and OH NO!!!

Well, it finally came time to hand back the N95-4 that WOM World/Nokia loaned me, I was very sad to see it go, but knew that I still had some time to spend with the N82 before I had to get that back to the S60 crew…
First thing I missed was how the N95 felt so comfortable in my hand, I would just whip it out of my pocket and slide it up, and voila!
Kinda made me feel like a super cool spy or something… or just someone who has too much time playing with phones…
the N82 doesn’t have as cool the bells and whistles to it, but I think why I used the two individually in their own right, the N82 more fit my needs.
I go out, and I like to see live music, I see bands pretty frequently, and that was what I needed, the music players were equal and the speakers were both sub par to my stereo, but sounded amazing through the headphones that came with the devices, let alone some noise canceling ones!
So, I’m waiting to find a new phone for my father, he’s got my N73, I’ve got the N82, and I’m carrying stuff around the house in a rubbermaid container… and
This happened on Sunday, on Monday I called Customer Care, they said I’d have to send it out…
Nokia Flagship Store said that Jack’s Place is an authorized repair center…
I called S60, to get their approval, since it’s not mine to send out…and they said not to worry, but I’m sure I’m on the poopie list…
My fault… stupid stupid dandan!
I was able to plug it into my tv, to get the incoming texts, until I could swap with my father for my N73 back… and I was able to use the RCA jacks to get through all of the syncing to get me back and running… if it had been the other way around, I would’ve been screwed!
So, now i’ve blanked all my personal data off the phone, and it’s on it’s way, to S60, who I really have to regain confidence with!
I was going to be sending it back this week anyway! Figures!
So now I’m back to my N73, it’s still a nice phone, but I think I’ve been spoiled as of late… I need something more… and for my needs, I’d have to say I NEED the N82… I only wish it was in 3G, because it was not something I can trade… Flash at night for 3G during the day AND night?
What would you do?
I’d really love to hear some more replies, some more debates going on, as I’m really new to the whole Mobile Addiction, but I think I’m catching up quick!
Nokia New York Vice Event
June 23, 2008 at 8:47 pm | In = FAIL, Business, Marketing, Nokia, RANT, SUPER RANT, Technology, WARNING WHINING AHEAD!, Word of Mouth | 2 CommentsTags: Huhh?, Marketing, Nokia, RANT, Santos Partyhouse, Vice Event, Waste
A bit ago I received an invite from Colin @ WOM World / Nokia for the Nokia New York Vice Event, I asked Zacharye if he was going and he told me he wasn’t informed of any event… I’m thinking, this is weird…
I started looking into the letter further, like I always do, too much…
Santos playhouse… Nokia Vice Event… Hmmm
So I googled both of those things…
Nokia Vice Event, came up with Nokia’s Vice President…
and google-ing Santos playhouse came up with a single page website which opens into a myspace page, and when I first checked it, it had 80 friends… As the event drew near, it had jumped to 200
But nothing on this event… and no reply from Colin… (turns out they were running events on the East and West Coast of the United States… (I’m interested in seeing what event was going on over there…)
Zacharye said to be cool… maybe it was like the Crown Point Festival…
Ok, I chilled… The other part of this email was that Colin was sending his colleagues there to look after me…
So, I got invited to an event that no-one has heard of? and he’s sending 3 people to look after me?
Maybe my ideas about the phone tutor got to some people who really really liked them!
Maybe someone didn’t like them, or I knew too much? And they were sent to kill me?
Ok, go with it… I brought along both the N82 for photographic evidence and the N95-4 for GPS tracking and to Qik my captors… Oh, and I can call 911 too! ![]()
So I leave the hospital from clinical (I’ve told you I’m in school for Respiratory Care right?)
Where was I? Oh yeah, Late for dinner, tracking my progress on Sports Tracker I called Donna by adding my calling card info I had stored on my contacts, by using the “Cut and Paste” and adding it to her London number…
I arrive, Qik my entrance, which came out shoddy… (I need a re-do on my re-do
)
I meet Eric Robbie, Donna (Dons) and Molly From Wom World at 218 Bar . We have a couple, we eat some nom noms…

All was well, we all got along, It was cool, how you can meet complete strangers, who have similar love as you, and you just fit in!
We moseyed our way to the club, and I noticed a HUGE LINE!
After a little delay with the VIP line, we get inside and go downstairs…
This event is sponsored by Nokia, they’ve got a professional photographer inside,

If you look real close…

She’s shooting pictures with an N95.
There were about 5 N95’s being used as cameras’
People were coming up to us asking what the event was for, I think the 5 of us and the people using the Nokia devices were the only ones who knew anything about Nokia, and apparently they didn’t know much about the devices in their hands, except that they could be used as cameras, and they bluetooth to the pc to be printed…
Here’s Eric showing the Nokia person for the evening some of the benefits of S60 and the N95!

There were 2 N810’s floating around, and when I scooped one up and started playing with it, the girl asked me how I did that, while browsing through the settings, she explained that she was new to the device… I told her that I had the model before this one… Finally getting the device in my hands for 5 minutes was really nice, but it was far from worth it to Nokia to go through all the trouble for little ol’ me… ![]()
I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed, that the one time I get to see higher end N-Series devices, placed in peoples hands, it’s in a bar where people can’t hear anything about the product…Â This goes back to my rant about how I think I would do a little bit of marketing…
So, We’re downstairs, lots of techno, I just want to go upstairs and see The Muslims I’d heard them at home while deciding if I was going to go to the show or not, and decided I could listen to them in the background… when we finally made it upstairs, after a little talking with the bouncer, (since the upstairs and downstairs were technically 2 separate parties) he let me go get the gang, and we walked in upstairs to the awful sounds of The Vivian Girls.
Don’t at all get me wrong please! The WOM World Crew were GREAT! Eric was totally cool… the dinner was awesome! But Nokia… What were you thinking?
You sold yourself out to be a 2bit Photo-booth!
You weren’t appealing to the masses…
Someone did you wrong… This was wrong… If you’re not appalled, then I feel sorry for you!
There was your logo, in 2 places shining from the lights onto black cinder-block walls…

and some people using N95’s as cameras’!
Upstairs I saw not a single thing Nokia related… Not a single mention of Nokia.
The only people it seemed, who really knew anything about Nokia and S60 were the 5 of us, and it was too loud in there to try to talk to ourselves, let alone talk with others!
Thank you for the dinner, thank you for the alcohol, thank you for the music and the evening out.
I think the money was well spent on me and Eric!
I had a good time with the WOM Crew! And look forward with seeing them again!
It was a nice chance for them to meet us, and for Eric and I to meet each other.
I look forward to meeting other bloggers…

Dear Nokia, I don’t think the rest of the evening was worth your money…
It seems that someone’s got free rein on your checkbook, and, it’s not your marketing department!
Nokia, The WOM thing is working, Maybe a little more effort in the US market is needed, but don’t overdo it, We’ll talk, I’ll try to pencil you in for lunch sometime… Until Next time…
Part 2 N95-4 vs N82! Audio…
June 23, 2008 at 2:11 pm | In Cell Phone Review, Nokia, Technology | 7 CommentsTags: Cellphone Duel, Comparison, N82 vs N95-4
The battle continues;
So, My car stereo crapped out… It sucks a lot, since I spend so much time in my car… But, I’ve been using the N95-4 so much that without any real thought, I found myself switched over to wearing the headphones from the N82 and moving on as if nothing were wrong.
I’ve been driving around, headphones on, and at least 5 times a day, I reach down as if I’m going to lower the radio, and I forget…
I’ve taken it out! And I’m listening through headphones.
And not some expensive Noise canceling headphones, just regular headphones from the N82!
The 8gig N95-4 has completely replaced my iPod Nano, and now it’s replaced my car stereo!
Yesterday though, I had my Girlfriend Nathalie in the car, and I couldn’t use the headphones so we were listening to music through the speakers on the N95…
She commented on how she’s heard music through the speakers on my N73, and she said point blank, the speakers didn’t sound as good as she would’ve thought for such a touted device. I happened to have the N82 with me, and bluetoothed the last song we had listened to, and played it on the N82, making note of the same EQ setting of Jazz.
She said it sounded much better, but she of course wished I had my stereo working ![]()
I’m working on it…
So, there,s a point awarded to the N82 (and N73
) for speakers, or at least sound, for, as much as I know they’re the same speakers inside…
One thought on that, on the N95, it sounds better with the screen facing away, as the shape folds in on the back that points the speakers away…
Whereas on the N82, both speakers are on the right side,

So it must be laid down, facing you…
Contrary to my N73 where the speakers are on the bottom and top…
(I’d have a pic but I lent my N73 out to my father, rather then let it collect dust!)
So, in the battle in my life, between the benefits of having either the N82 OR (don’t we wish we could have both?) the N95-4
Screen size hands down the N95 wins
Camera Hands down the N82 wins
Here’s where it gets tricky…
Music storage N95
Listening Via headphones? no real difference, but it goes back to the music storage, N95
Listening via speakers? not a crazy noticable difference, but with the sound all the way up, the N82 because the N95 was struggling…
I’ve not really been able to compare the battery, but believe that the battery on the N82 holds up better for my uses, because the screen isn’t using up so much juice…
i’ll try to get one last compare on that in…
I’m soon to give the N95-4 back
tears…
And the N82 is soon to go home as well… I am really really hoping that something else cool comes my way ![]()
I’ve had a lot of fun with playing with these two devices as well as showing them off top people who would not normally have seen them!
My first statement on the last report being an upgrade or a downgrade was a bit out of place, all in all, Nokia doesn’t release a device that supersedes the last, each device has it’s own strengths, and for me, as a student, I would prefer the N95, but as a person who goes out at night, I need the N82, here’s a few pics of my friends band, La Cosa Nostra, taken with the N82 last night.
Let me know what you think… About the pictures and the article! What’s your take? Which is better?
Let’s see what’s next for MobileDan…
