way too early

For some reason Grant has been waking up pretty early the last several days (around 6:30ish), but Jeremy loves it because then he gets to see him before leaving for work. This pic was taken earlier this week after Jeremy "delivered" Grant to my bed just before he walked out the door (thanks a lot!) So here's Grant just chillin' on my side while I try to catch a few final zzzzz's. I just thought he looked so cute and innocent while I was laying there in absolute misery thinking about waking up way too early!

almost there...!!

the G-man is very close to sitting up....I had to get this picture on a soft surface because he's still wobbly and if I'm taking the picture I can't catch him, but he does much better on a hard surface :)

boogers and blueberries

So today Jeremy fed Grant his lunch and this is was the final product: a nose full of boogers, and blueberries ALL over the place!

fun weekend - sorry this post is so long!

This weekend turned out to be so much fun, even though Grant was still getting over a bad cold which has caused him to be pretty irritabe.

On Friday night, Jeremy's mom (Pictured above in the ball cap) insisted that she watch Grant at our house so we could attend a friend's birthday party at Macaroni Grill. We thoroughly enjoyed a few baby-free hours with wonderful food and friends!

On Saturday morning Jeremy stayed home and did some work while Grant slept and I went to a meeting for VBS workers. By the time I got home the little guy was awake and we were hungry so we called our friends, the Boucek's, and met them for lunch at a fresh mexican deli here in town. This place is amazing. The owners' buy fresh ingredients daily from local markets and it's NOT tex-mex - they don't even serve cheese sauce or rice and beans. After lunch we strolled around the local farmers market and bought some delicious Bradley Tomatoes - mmmm! Saturday night we had Jeremy's parents over for a last-minute family dinner of turkey meatloaf and a yummy peanutbutter fudge ice cream pie.

Sunday turned out to be great, too. I got to help out in the baby nursery during church and it changed my life. Well not really, but I did REALLY enjoy it and feel like God stirred my heart to help more in that area (another blog about that to come soon). By Sunday night Grant was feeling quite a bit better so we took him to the church for family VBS. Jeremy and I are working in the recreation area each night, and tonight was the kick-off. Grant LOVED being there among all the families and kids; he was a perfect angel. He smiled and even laughed at almost every person who talked to him (which is great considering he's recovering from a cold AND it was getting very close to bedtime). Oh, and another highlight of the weekend - I made a few batches of homemade baby food (peas, blueberries and green beans) which was super fun to make but unfortunately Grant did NOT like it because he's used to the jar stuff. We'll keep trying though and keep you posted :)

Palmers weekend in Memphis

My dad was invited to preach at Collierville First Assembly (a suburb of Memphis) this past weekend so he brought my mom and sister and we had the BEST time! Bethany got a new camera with some very cool effects....above are a few of her pics. I'll post more of Grant ;)

a few more July 4th pics

July 4th weekend

We had an AWESOME weekend in Springfield celebrating the fourth of July with my family and Christine Byars (a longtime family friend who lives in Des Moines). On Friday we all went to the James River Assembly "I Love America" festival where Bethany and Christine got their first helicopter ride! We played some golf, ate a lot, and even got to see the "Baldknobbers" show in Branson thanks to a friend of dad's. The fourth picture here shows Grant with one of the funniest guys in the show - he could literally (as you can see) eat his face. We think Grant was a little disturbed by this, hence his look of utter confusion and shock.

In case you can't tell...

...this is a guy in a motorized cart pulling a woman in a wagon across a major intersection (Springfield, MO). Thank you Christine, for always having the camera ready!

OK, you be the judge!

Most people say Grant looks like his Daddy, but above is a picture of Jeremy at age four months, and below is a picture of Grant at four months. Besides the fact that they obviously share the exact same hair line, do you think they look alike?! I guess I need to post one of my four-month pictures to make it fair :) Wow, Grant's hair really looks red in this picture! (his actual hair color looks like Jeremy's baby pic.)

I thought this would be fun, so post your comments below!

5 months ago today...

Five months ago today (January 31) I kissed my baby for the very first time, and I still can't get enough hugs and kisses from our little guy. I promise you that his cheeks get softer and more kissable with each passing day!!! He is the most precious thing in the whole world and we thank God daily for the miracle of his life.
The learning curve of motherhood has been very steep these last five months and I know it will only continue to grow as HE grows, and as I am constantly forced to adapt to his ever changing needs. Having a child is constantly teaching me about flexibility, patience and selfLESSness: areas that I definitely struggle with in life. But it has also brought the deepest amount of joy and fulfillment I've ever experienced.
So Happy Five Months, Grant and thank you Lord for giving us such a priceless, wonderful gift in Grant Andrew.
