I Support The Power Holiday
Noticed the daily power failures? It turns out that there is a power shortage in Tamilnadu and so the Electricity Board has decided to declare Power Holidays. This means that we get to enjoy a few hours of no electricity every day.
I fully support this decision to cut power every day because we live in an underdeveloped country. We can’t really expect the Government to properly manage our natural resources and generate enough electric power. How can we blame the Electricity Board for being incompetent? They have better things to do than their jobs. Supply of 24 hours electricity is a nice dream but it isn’t realistic.
We just have to accept that sacrifices have to be made in an underdeveloped poor nation such as India. Until then we should ask other countries that are on the same level as us (Nigeria, Sudan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia) for some tips on how to manage our resources properly.

I actually am completely for it, so long as it is scheduled at 10:00-12:00. Beyond noon it’s just insane.
Installed power supply capacity is pretty stagnant at around 8.6 gigawatts. It’s been that way for the last five-six years, while power usage has been growing steadily and is now past 9 gigawatts.
However, the real problem seems to be that our hydel projects aren’t delivering anywhere near their full capacity. Nuclear power isn’t the solution either, the reactors at Kalpakkam are a small fraction of our power needs. We, unfortunately, need coal. And lots of it.

I oppose coal too. Too polluting. Rather become a radioactive mutant with machine guns than die of respiratory problems.

Well… its not just about power productions, its about conservation too. Judicious use of power is important.
Nuclear energy can be an intermediate arrangement, but i believe the future is in renewable sources of energy - wind, water, tidal, geo-thermal, solar,bio-mass. Individually they might not be the solution but together they can satisfy a great deal of the requirement. Coal will soon be given the boot….
And another near future possibility is that soon we will be producing our own energy, through the above mentioned sources… use what we produce and share the surplus with others. Which means every house has its own combination of energy producing devices…

A combination of all renewable sources of energies will do the job.
Nuclear Fusion seems a long way off. US and EU were fighting over the locations to build the infrastructure…

@All : I hate every thing here…. Bastards daily cutting power for one hour in residents, but giving needless power to party meetings and so on…. These people are always famous in doing these type of fucking things… Its very annoying… They are not even keeping the correct timings, cutting the power by morning 11 and putting it back by 12:20 or 12:30… Every thing sucks here….

So what it does is this, we have all these mirrors, see. And we focus them on this tower, see. And in the tower there’s molten saltpetre, and when it heats up it’s stored in an insulated storage, see. Then we use the heat whenever we want, by making steam with it.

Hari, no big deal getting worst or as you said best inverter. But maintaining it is bit annoying and costly too. After 3 months you gotta pay a sum of 450 for the maintainance. Then if you use it continuously then after couple of months you gotta change the battery which costs more than 1000.
Better we sit in dark for 1hour and sweat.
